Yes, you have to buy good/great players. But to win a championship they have to be matched up with good coaching. McMahon has shown NOTHING to make anyone think he could have a championship roster rather the roster costs $10 or $10 million
The bigger question is what is your ROI relative to the state of the program? Is it going to cost $8M just to push LSU into the first round of the NCAA Tournament as a 9, 10, 11, 12 seed? If so, you can get those results with another HC with far less NIL money being spent.

You need a mix of high school and transfer portal. The problem with the portal is the stars that you win championships with will not be entering. You will get bench warmers, players with attitude problems, players who want more playing time and every once in a while a hidden gem. Freshman recruits problems are they all want to go to prominent basketball schools which LSU is currently not. How quickly they adapt to the college game is also a factor. Some jump right in and others need a season to settle in.
So let Coach Mac throw money at who he wants and let the rest of us hope he makes good decisions. But with all of the above it will be very hard to get a competitive team. I suspect we will be marginally better by three or four games but nothing spectacular.

He should give the money to the FB Team so they can sign Bradford and a QB. He would win more good will and then take your buyout
