Why does Southwestern constantly, and blatantly, call itself Louisiana without the city? Maybe people.don't understand why an institute of higher learning would act like an annoying 12 year old.
Funny, I've been in two of these arguments today. These things only flare up when USL wins anything against LSU. Any other time, I couldn't find a Cajun fan to argue anything. Well, except for arguments about which street drugs and hair gel are best.

Yes we will. Our batts also have to stay hot. But anything is possible. Last year we were 15-15, then strung together 19 straight wins. Hopefully we can do it again. It would be fun to have UL & LSU in the same regional

You failed to answer the question. Why do LSU people care so much what another university calls itself? I know it's not supposed to be UL. I'm not arguing that the name "Louisiana" is correct, I just want to know why people like you get so worked up about it.

Thats usually because the only time it ever comes up is after ULL plays LSU in a sport and the Rantards come out in force. The first page of this thread didn't have a single post from a ULL fan.
Gawd help us when ULL wins something..

All other schools outside of LSU in Louisiana are the most annoying institutions that may exist in this country.

Nobody really gets that worked up about it UNTIL ulala fans have something to crow about, ie. a mid-week win over LSU, & then they come over here & start running their gums like they have actually accomplished something other than a mid-week victory over a highly ranked team. Other than that, most people don't give a rat's arse what ulala calls themselves. Why? Because it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, LSU is LSU & no one will ever confuse LSU with one of the many regional universities in the state of Louisiana.

I'm a fan of ULL except when they are playing LSU... I would not want to see ULL in a regional with LSU simply because they choke when its crunch time.

No , I answered it. I'm a fan, who grew up in Lafayette. I remember what it was like in 1984 , I was young, but I remember some. Southwestern tried to bypass every other directional school in La. , to hand itself some sort of "flagship" status. To be able to demand more money from the state. It was shady then, and its even shadier now , with the childish way they rebel against the rulings of the legislature. USL is a public university, that I fund, and it bugs me that the actual school itself acts like an angry fan.
I think it bothers me more because i'm from Lafayette, and I know how truly lame and petty most of the hardcore ULL fanbase (a few thou) really are.

Lafayette's mardi gras is the third biggest. only two cities have more people for the parades, Mobile and New Orleans. Lafayette's population almost triples for mardi gras.

Actually, a lot of these posters have ties to both. Had a crazy FB argument/discussion earlier from a ULL friend complaining that LSU hadn't put the press release on LSUsports.net, because of the "rivalry". This was like 25 minutes after the game. The same arguments popped up, just like they do here.

The way I see it, LSU is the big brother who is good at all sports and is the popular kid in high school. While ULL is the younger brother who has to live in the shadows of the older brother and just wants the attention and respect they believe they deserve

Thing is, if they would actually win the Sun Belt in a few sports, consistently, they would get tons of respect from all the LSU haters in this state. There are a bunch of those types that don't really support any team, but hate LSU.
