I believe they were the only team to go undefeated vs LSU this year. We avenged every other loss if I'm not mistaken.

We lost to mighty Louisiana College one of our other national championship years.

I attended the Nicholls atheletic banquet a couple of months ago as my daughter has a sports scholarship there. When they announced that the baseball team will be remembered for beating #1 LSU they went crazy. I'm sure they will say it at next years gathering since LSU won the CWS.

I don't believe that LSU fans should be anything but proud of the way that the Nicholls St. baseball players will always remember their wins over LSU.

You have to be happy for a small college in south Louisiana to have pulled a big upset over LSU. It didn't cost us anything, perhaps gave us inspiration to play up for every opponent the rest of the season, but it meant so much to Nichols.
You can bet the Nichols fan base pulled for LSU every other game especially to win the National Championship.
What a difference in attitude vs. ULL.

Next year and forever, IMO.

Dude, they won a meaningless mid-week game against a non-weekend starter BEFORE the changes that really turned this team into a championship team.

I seriously doubt that Nicholls State's players care that much, seeing as how they never were able to build on the win at LSU and improve because of it.

ETA: Smalls schools beat bigger schools in baseball all the time. Those things happen. They normally throw one of their better starters to try to get the win, and the bigger schools starts someone just to get them some meaningful innings and also tries players at different spots on the field.

If it were football, absolutely Nicholls State would have something to talk about. Baseball is just different.

It wasn't meaningless to the Nicholls' team from where I sat at the end of that game.

Then you are seriously wrong.

Nicholls basketball team gave LSU a good little run too last year. I think they were leading at halftime or something.

Yeah, they are still talking about it. My son went to a local baseball camp last week put on by the Nicholls team. Of course his first day I sent him decked out in full Tiger gear!!! Coach Durham even made the comment that they were pulling for LSU so that they could say they beat the National Champs! He is a great guy and coach, he meant nothing negative about it. But a win against the state's flagship athletic school by a local college is kind of a big deal.... to them.
