It isn't LSU acting like anything. The State Legislature ruled on this stupidity years ago and Requires ULL
to use Lafayette as part of their name and says clearly that no one school can have the University of Louisiana designation because all schools in the University of Louisiana system are autonomous and the is no flagship campus. ULL needs to grow up and obey the law as the State Legislature intended.

I have listened to their stupidity for years and if you could comprehend my post instesd of selectively editing what I said then it would be clear that the State Of Louisiana is the authority which names Universities in this state not some malcontents in Lafayette who have "penis envy" of LSU and want to pretend they are something they are not and are not authorized to be by the State.

They are in a group of schools that US news didn't put the time in to rank. They lumped them in at #293-#381. If you are biased either way, you could say they are at either of those extremes. objecively, let's say they are in the middle at #337.
For reference, lowly Mississippi is #162. Arkansas, Alabama and LSU are in the 150s.
Texas is #48, Missouri is #139, Georgia is #50, Kentucky is #132, Tennessee is #104
Are you suggesting that ULL is a good academic school? I wouldn't say LSU is, and ULL is far worse.
I hope I don't also have to explain athletics.

Nearly half of ULL athletics financial support comes from taxpayer subsidy in the form of "direct institutional support." Go to Schedule A (Page 15 of 23) of the most recent state auditor's report. This is now up to $14.5 million. Football revenue = only $1.6 million. That really sounds like a program bigger conferences would want to scoop up. They would be at best FCS if forced to sink or swim in the marketplace. Last time I looked Tech is ~$10 million DIS and ULM is around $7-8 million. And people cry because there are not funds for real needs around the state.

Unless you show all state schools, LSU, UL, Tulane, Grambling, Southern, Nichols, LaTech......etc...., this means absolutely nothing. Nothing to compare to see how much is being contributed to all schools. And yes, LSU gets state funds also.

It means a lot, sending good money after bad toward a losing proposition. You can look up the others at the same website. And this refers specifically to athletics. As i said, from memory Tech's subsidy is ~$10 million, ULM ~$7-8 million, and the smaller schools all ~$4-5 million. Would it be okay if they all directed $14.5 million per year to athletics?

If ULL would just stop acting like LSU has held them back (many of their fans say this) everything would be alright. The truth is that ULL has a very small fanbase and they think just because you live in Lafayette you should support ULL. 99% of LSU fans don't even think about ULL or care if they win 1 game or 11. ULL is meaningless.
