To answer this question we need to first determine what Burrow's draft stock was prior to the season. I would estimate a mid 4th round pick at best. A 2019 mid 4th round pick was guaranteed about $710K with a $3.2 million contract.

Compare that to the top 10 pics of 2019:

PICK
TEAM
PLAYER
TOTAL CONTRACT
SIGNING BONUS
1
Cardinals
Kyler Murray $35.2 million $23.6 million
2
49ers
Nick Bosa $33.6 million $22.4 million
3
Jets
Quinnen Williams $32.6 million $21.5 million
4
Raiders
Clelin Ferrell $31.4 million $20.6 million
5
Buccaneers
Devin White $29.3 million $19.1 million
6
Giants
Daniel Jones $25.7 million $16.6 million
7
Jaguars
Josh Allen $22.8 million $14.6 million
8
Lions
T.J. Hockenson $19.9 million $12.7 million
9
Bills
Ed Oliver $19.7 million $12.5 million
10
Steelers
Devin Bush $18.9 million $11.9 million

In the span of 2 months Joe Burrow has....

You raise a great point. He really did earn a great deal of it this year, while unmarried.

Colorable argument — assuming he marries — the present value is separate property, albeit arguably enhanced during the marriage (should he ever divorce). States differ on “personal goodwill,” but this is a legit point.

It’s a shite argument considering if he didn’t work going forward he would get 0 dollars and it is extremely unlikely he’ll be drafted by a community property state.

Is Ohio a community property state?

For Burrow this seems like good information to know.

Well if he is a high 1st round pick, and has a long NFL career it could be well over a hundred million once it's all said and done. Teams are a lot more willing to be patient, and give you some time to develop when they've used a 1st round pick on you. Not so much if you are a late round pick or rookie free agent.

All depends on where he lives. If a community property state like LA or CA it doesn't matter. Most states have a modified community property regime which is it's community once they get married, in some others she is only entitled to what is earned during the marriage, so the signing bonus is his free and clear.

No matter what the future Mrs. Burrow barring a very strict pre-nup ain't gonna be hurting.
