JL has all the physical tools and had the mental tools to be a very good QB. However, JL got thrown in way over his head as a RS FR and we all know what happened. I expected him to bounce back from this and still become that good QB that he showed flashes of. However after watching the LA Tech game, I realized that he is done. Any poise, confidence, or nerves that he had are completely gone. He unloaded the ball out of bounds at the slightest hint of pressure. He is so afraid of making the mistakes that he made in the past that he no longer has a chance to become that great QB.

He still looked ruint vs Tech and Gumps.
Maybe the RP effect could be undone with starts against Notheast and McNeese....or mop up duty vs Gators.

poor kid didnt desereve what happened to him. he still has a chance to be a great qb. i thought he did as best as he could against Bama. i was even impressed. but LA Tech game just ruined him. i think any confidence he had is just gone. i hope he transfers and gets a fresh start. he deserves it. i like Chris Garrett more anyways

He can't get worse, but he is done forever, should have transferred.

What the hell are you talking about. You mean being named the starter as a RS Freshman.

How about JJ, being named the starter a true freshman?

JJ fared much better without as much experience as JL. All of this poor JL got thrown into a bad situation stuff is BS. He had two full springs and falls to get ready to be a starter and he flopped. He had his shot and he performed poorly. End of story.

So, you think it's a good situation he got thrown into? Not flaming you, but just asking.

My thinking is that both JL and JJ were placed in a difficult situation and we as fans owe them both our thanks for taking on a job long before they would have been normally expected to.

I don't think that it's just by chance our two worst years back to back this decade coincides with the only two years this decade we started QBs with no or almost on live fire action and limited time within the football program.

I agree. He is one play away from being the starter and I think the coaches are not uncomfortable with him at the helm. Other than the interceptions his numbers for a first year player wasn't that bad. I just think that he needed a few more years of grooming before being thrown into the fire. But I think that he still has a chance to finish his career at LSU on a high note.

What did you expect, after him rotting on the bench for an entire year? JLee was hurt vs. Ole Miss in Nov. 08, and didnt see the field again until the Bama game of Nov. 09. All because our QB of the 112th ranked offense couldnt produce enough points to get off the field. If that happens again this year, neither Garrett nor JLee will get any better. Sorry, but if Crowton isnt smart enough to get a second QB ready for when JJ goes down (yet again), then he needs to be fired mid-season.

Hell, even Hatch was able to build a sufficient enough lead for JLee to get some early playing time back in '08.

do any of yall think it's funny that half the ranterds think jl is bad and the other half think jj is bad.
i mean, holy heck, do they not see themselves in the looking glass?
com'on ranterds, go thru to the other side, try to find something positive in your life.
seriously, i doubt if the negativeism will ever stop in your lives, but their is hope.

lincoln said something like, a man is as happy as he makes up his mind to be.

stop, breathe, take a moment, ...
now, try to be positive about something.

a better question would be how many of you even care, and will it even affect the LSU football program.

Fail
I know you're a nega who's hot for Lee, but mop up games were there and he was in them, 23-9 Vandy, 31-3,ULL(JL TD), 42-0,TU(JL in @ 6min/4th) all before Bama. I'm guessing it's mental and coaches just can't do much with him. He may do ok in practice and fall apart under the lights.

everyone on this board seems to believe we "have" to choose one of the other...the coach doesnt, its not against the law to start over, sure you dont WANT to do that, but I really dont think that either one of them will have a lot of success taking our team to a BCS bowl, Lee has the physical tools, just lost his head two years ago...JJ has a little less physical tools but was right there watching Lee go through hell and doesnt want any part of that. (one possible reason he doesnt throw downfield) I still for one believe that the High School All-American QB! shoud get his chance, saw the kid throw in high school its not bad, period....Give him one half of football and I think all of you would see the QB of the future....Some on here are afraid that he will do well and then all of a sudden we have too many QB's...BS...Play the Freshman run the spread option recruit a OL and DL and win a couple of titles...Les, you reading?

JL is fine. Physically and arm strength wise the best QB on the team.

He just needs to be coached with confidence from the staff.

He was given an off season from 08 disaster and put in some mop up duty before Tech game. He went 7/22 in that one, if I remember right.
I wouldn't mind seeing him in against McNNeese, but 09 performance showed he's not recovered/ready for SEC primetime.
When Miles is asked about JL taking over, he has this "You Are Joking?" look about him, and quickly dismisses the notion. I'm sure he knows what JL is capable of.
