He wasn’t.

He very much was. The point of the poster saying that is that Simmons was more than talented enough and likely would have been the overall #1 pick straight out of high school to the NBA if the 1 year rule didn't exist. G-League (pretty sure it was still called the D-League then) was not then what it is now, so that was not a realistic possibility for him either.

You’re insane if you think Simmons isn’t one of the 50 best ball handlers/passers in LSU’s history.
And how old are you and what do you know about the history of LSU basketball? Like I said I've been around since the Maravich days. Do you know who Ethan Martin is? I could start a list but other people would have different opinions. Just the way it is. Simmons couldn't even shoot a layup with his left hand when driving to that side. Always used an awkward off balance right hand shot that negated his height somewhat.

Simmons had one of the top 5-10 individual seasons ever for an LSU player probably closer to top 5. It’s not even debatable. And he has already had one of the top 5 pro careers of any former LSU players and that’s not debatable. Please try to argue these points so we can all see how stupid your are. Use facts by the way not your feelings and opinions nobody cares about those.

Use facts by the way
Okay, here is a fact Simmons fans don't ever include. He had 100 turnovers which was tops on the team. His assist to turnover ratio was third best on the team. So if you use that particular "fact" he wasn't even the best ball handler for LSU on that team.

The main playmaker on a terribly coached team made a decent amount of turnovers you don’t say lol. Argue my points if you will. Do you disagree that his one season was one of the top 5-10 seasons in LSU history? And do you disagree that he has already had one of the top 5 professional careers of any past tiger?

Oh and you know who had more turnovers than Simmons? Tremont Waters when he led us to the sweet 16. Was he not a good ball handler? He had turnover totals of 114 and 96 in his 2 seasons and led the team in turnovers by a wide margin both seasons.

Okay, let's get back to facts again. Tremont had assist/turnover ratio of 2.06 and 1.68 his two years. Simmons was 1.42. Hmm, looks like Tremont was a lot better with the ball than Simmons.

It seems you really don't know very much history when it comes to LSU basketball. Here is a list of years in which we made the NCAA Tournament and how far we advanced. Note with Simmons we didn't make the tournament.

NCAA Appearances 23 (1953, 1954, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2015, 2019, 2021)
Sweet Sixteen 10 (1953, 1954, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1986, 1987, 2000, 2006, 2019)
Elite Eight 6 (1953, 1980, 1981, 1986, 1987, 2006)
Final Four 4 (1953, 1981, 1986, 2006)

I really don't care about professional basketball, I am a college fan. Here are some players who had better careers with the Tigers.
1. Bob Pettit
2. Pete Maravich
3. Chris Jackson
4. Shaq
5. Rudy Macklin
6. Stromile Swift
7. Brandon Bass
8. Rickey Blanton
9. Skylar Mays
10. Don Redden
Three of those are in the Hall of Fame and Chris should be but won't because of his political views.
