LSU has not been funded properly for 25 years.
It just keeps getting worse. Cut out the worthless degrees and raise the tuition 20%.
Partner more with business and alumni.

Maybe Shaq, Bass and P. Peterson can help

Simply put, this is a ploy for more money. The message is clearly politically slanted to defend specific parties in the Louisiana government, but all he is doing is setting the table for 2 possibilities. 1) We will all fear for LSU and flock to our legislators to save our beloved flagship. They fold and LSU gets the money. 2) The legislature doesn't pull out another pay day loan and they balance the budget through cuts to areas including higher Ed. All LSU would do at that point is raise fees/ tuition as much as possible, then they would go to alumni and supporters saying, "remember that letter we sent saying our university would die? Well we are on our death bed and need more of your money".
LSU will be fine. We should all be so worried about the fiscal future of our state.

I say dedicate 50 cents of every causeway toll crossing Lake Pontchartrain to LSU athletics.

just don't tax the oil and insurance industries.
we need to keep giving them money to extract the blood from the state

Yet another deluded soul advocating "let's tax our way to prosperity" . Blackjack do you realize state and federal govt' take more money from the oil companies thru taxation than the companies make as a profit. And for doing absolutely nothing.

Blackjack do you also realize the Govt will soon be the largest employer in the US? And the govt generates nothing but operates from tax revenues generated by the producers in our society. There is more than a sufficient sum for education but the lawmakers would have to cut pork programs that benefit themselves, their friends and supporters.

Our legislators have for years created bullshite programs that drain the public monies with little or no public benefit. The system started going downhill about 70 years ago and is going downhill at an ever increasing rate. If knucklehead Obama gets reelected it will signal the end of America as a free, capitalist country.

In summary Blackjack, the Govt is the enemy and more taxes is certainly not the solution.
