Making that concession required meeting with LSU admin and NCAA and his lawyer advised him not to. That's a pretty big reason.

What is Wade’s buyout/guarantee outside of breaking rules or breaking laws & being fired for cause?

I don’t know. I am assuming it’s lower than remaining contract since it was his first contract here, but I am not sure

edit: I think it may have been remaining contract which would make those Millions more of a reason to delay, until prepared, a meeting where omission cause or NCAA violations could come into play with contract than why he made his statement owning suspension. Unless LSU had leverage they could get out of paying him, but thought it best to give that away to instead force him to make the statement I don’t think they could make him admit fault over suspension by holding contract over his head. If fired without cause they still had to pay him.
