Ika will start by week 3. Rashard Fehoko and Ika will dominate. Logan & Shelvin will provide depth but we need one more to step up. We’re stacked at Lber which will give the front 3 better looks. I think we see a 2011 type Defense this year.

The d will be good enough. But TM was the best player that season. We will never see that again. Sorry, just won't.

comical is you saying other posters are star gazing and then IMMEDIATELY use team rankings that are determined by star rankings.

Ben doesn't know any better. He proves that every day he logs on to the rant.

We spanked Georgia's arse last year and our defensive line will be improved this year. Reason says our offensive line will be better also, considering what we'll have coming back. I look forward to watching our boys in the trenches this fall.

So Ben, since there are no problems with recruiting, and O has all the pieces in place with lots of returning experience and his coaches he wanted, along with a favorable schedule...we’re going to the CFP this year, right?

I mean, if O is as awesome as you say (and he may be), you really have to expect that from him. You can’t say he’s killing it in every area of coaching and then absolve him of any expectation of better results in the W/L column.

Sorry dude, but LSU is a football school and nothing is going to change that. Super regionals, omaha, doesn't matter, football is the #1 sport by far and it's not close. So, you better get used to it and stop wasting your time bc thats not gonna change. Football is on most LSU fans minds 365 days out of the year, regardless of how the other sports are doing and what they have going on. Geaux Tigers.

Based on what? Not trying to be a jerk, I'm really asking. This is the biggest question mark to me.

If they don't provide Burrow with enough protection, that's not good. Also they would struggle to open lanes for CEH and Emery.

I'm looking forward to football as well but inconsistencies in games where we should win with O at the helm force me to have a wait and see approach.

That's just how it is for me. We destroyed UGA, then we get to a bad, really bad Arkansas team and we look like we can barely tie our shoes. That's what concerns me. The preparation for the opponent, the playing down to bad teams. It drives me nuts.

Actually they do matter. A lot. If you don't like watching baseball, that's one thing but to say they don't matter is pretty ridiculous.

I will agree football is the primary money maker but there are a lot of baseball fans.

That's the same way I feel. We absolutely destroyed Georgia, but the rest of the year, before and after that game, was hit and miss. It's maddening.

I was really nervous going to that game. After watching them at the end of the previous season but we took it to them. We really did. Walked out of the stadium with a huge smile.

Then we get to Bama, heck even Southeastern and I've already mentioned Arkansas.

It makes you want to rip your hair out.

Aside from Texas, the one game I have a concern about in this coming season is Utah State. They're usually pretty good. Not saying they're SEC-ish but given how we've been prepared for Troy, La. Tech, Southeastern..... it's a reasonable concern.

We'll see how O gets them prepared. I do think this is the year for him to really get it done. When I say "it" I mean at least win the west, preferably the SEC. Next year he'll lose a lot of players.

No consistency last year. Good one game, bad the next. Or good during the first half, bad the second half.

Exactly.

And I don't want the man to fail at all but I have reservations regarding his game day decisions, the preparedness and so forth.

This year is his best shot at shutting up the critics. Not a natty but to really blow the doors off teams he should. At least win the west. He wins the west, we go to Atlanta.

Roy KILLED Kardell head to head and he was a Jr. he was pumping LSU hard until he decommitted. He is looking like he is headed to Bama. I simply don’t understand how a kid like him who is extremely polite, honest and has honor leaves. Don’t give me “kids need to leave home” bull shite because you don’t know this kid or his mother. Total BS happening right now with DLINE RECRUITS.

Not only has the DL recruiting been bad, but retaining it has been bad too. We lost transfer Cotton, Hines went to OL (because OL is also having serious problems), Alexander left for the NFL after doing absolutely nothing, and we are going to lose Lawrence, Fehoko, and at least one of Farrell/Logan. You can not win the big games without good trench play, and we haven't had that the last 2 years and 3 of the last 4 years.

Maybe I didn't communicate that as well as I had hoped. My comment was directed at the 3 star vs 5 star. Just because a player is recruited as a 3 star doesn't mean that he can't compete with a 5 star after being developed. They do it on every team in America. Clemson's offensive line had a couple on it last season.

The ranking of the current class is a barometer you can use to compare how LSU is competing with the other top schools.

If you're complaining about O's lack of recruiting while O is sitting at #2 why yes. Yes I'm going to laugh at you. And rightfully so.

I don't think the line was as bad as people say.

LSU offense dominated and got dominated all in the same game multiple times last year. I think the same line looks infinitely better this year with an actual offensive mind on the coaching staff that is still young enough to reproduce.

its comical that you can spend the entire 2018 season actually bashing the players with your opinions [so you dont have to lay blame on the staff) and yet you have a problem with bringing up actual facts about O

I've said that O is doing a great job recruiting. I think that he's doing a good job building the program like he wants. He's had some setbacks but that seems to be in the rearview mirror. I hope. That being said we'll all know this fall about the offense.

I said this recently besides a stud RB we need the last 6-7 spots for OL and DL!! A lot of those guys are gonna wait until the last minute which unfortunately goes Bama's way.

It's better to be a consistently good team than an occasionally great team. The former is what lands you in the CFP. Occasionally great is why we can look how we did vs UGA and then not look like we belong on the field vs Bama.

This is a marathon. Very few teams are talented enough to not bring their best every weekend and expect to keep getting by unscathed.
