Dude goes back to his alma mater to play against them. Couldn't imagine doing that.

He probably imagined that he would retire there. Must have been hard at first

He could have probably retired had it not been for that mother farking mustang package that lost us so many games. Like the 2001 SEC Championship

Chavis, a Tennessee player in the 1970s and an assistant coach from 1989-2008 and the defensive coordinator from 1995-2008, started to answer, but he couldn't. He stopped, put his head down and tried to gather himself for several seconds. Then he choked on his words and the tears flowed after the first time in his life that he coached against Tennessee at Tennessee.
"I said I'd never do this again, but I did," Chavis said after he finally composed himself. "So I'm a softie. So call me a big baby."
quote:
"It was difficult," he said. "I didn't know what to expect coming back. It's about the people here. That's what it's about. I love the people here. But where I'm at every day is LSU. And I love LSU. Those are the people I care about right now. But this is a special place to me. I'm fortunate to be a part of LSU. I couldn't be in a better situation. We have a chance to win the national championship."
quote:
"We played for coach Chavis tonight," Claiborne said. "This week he didn't say much, but we knew as a team that this game was a special one for him."

The 3-2-6 Mustang is a big reason for our defensive success. But he uses for 4 D-lineman most of the time

Sorry, the Vol Nation got inpatient and passed in it's own beer.
Good luck against Vandy, you'll need it.

One more thing: your running back's (Travis Henry?) fumble and wide receivers fumble cost you dearly. Chavis prepared for a Rohan Davey passing attack but your cheap shots put him out of the game. Enter Mauck and y'all weren't prepared for him or his running.
Too bad, you lost then and a total of 6 of the last 8. Now go have a nice steaming hot cup of STFU.

Josh Williford is big. RR needs to teach Jordan how to smile.

After calling the game from the coaches’ booth, Chavis emerged from a tunnel beyond the south end zone and hugged several LSU players as they exited the field. Later, he was presented with the game ball.
“It got a little emotional in the locker room,” said Tigers safety Eric Reid. “Everybody knew how much this game meant to him.”

There are two schools Cheif loves and LSU is one of them. Cheif belongs on the Bayou now, hes moved on.

Chavis was real emotional in the interviews. It was really good to see the guys get it done for him.

i think reality finally set in for him that hes nothing more than an option qb. i wouldn't smile either if for three years ive been told i was the man and the best qb on the team and in 4 games jarret lee crushed all that

which was poor prep because given how often Ro was injured AND his game plan was designed to knock him out of the game, which it did, he should've been ready for Mauck.

Had to be tough. All he ever wanted to do was play and coach at Tennessee.

It was a somber moment. Why would he be smiling?

Kiffin screwed the Chief and TN. Bet your bottom dollar if we ever get to play USCw... he will extract his revenge.
