He was a great college player
LSU has had several great college players who never became solid NBA players
You can build a winning team buy recruiting Hi C type guys- you will be competitive year to year but to be dominant --see Kentucky, See Duke-
At some point you have to bring in the franchise guys

Hi-C = string music, man that baseline jumper was like butta. He had a HUGE game in Lexington in 81`that team was the greatest assortment of talent in LSU bb history with he and E, Cookieman. Rudy and my man "Swat"...

They were very diff players (both from Redemptorist, which prompted my comparison). Taylor was a much better overall player. Carter was more of an athelete, thus the draft status. Taylor ran the team and played defense....thus a better overall player. Taylor went into a bad slump his senior year that killed him.
Either of these guys would be for better than anyone at any position we've had for the past few years.

Don't laugh but I would put the blonde bomber Jordy Hultburg up there with the sweetest J's ever. Darrell Mitchell is up there also imho.
Jordy had a nice shot. How about Anthony Wilson? Ronnie Henderson?
I don't know why Carter did not make it in the NBA. Perhaps he was a step slow. Seems like he could've made a decent career of it, like a similar type player, Adrian Dantley, did.
Another guy w/ all the skills, including a soft pretty turnaround jumper - DeWayne the Astronaut Scales.

I remember hearing at the time that he developed a little "nose candy" problem while in Denver.

instant offense...50% field goal per., 80% foul try per., 15 points per game. ran the court, could penetrate and create his shot, decent d and would bound. when he got the rock he knew what to do with it.
"get the ball to the shooter."
had a cup of coffee in the nba and had a solid career in europe.

Carter was awesome. Not only did he have a sweet jumper, but he was tough as nails. He wasn't that big, at least as some basketball guys go, but nobody messed with Hi-C and he had his teammates backs, too. Good defender as well.

that was a great 4-5 year period for LA HS basketball. Carter, Mike Sanders, Orlando Woolridge, Willie Jackson, Benoit Benjamin, Bobby Joe Douglas...among others

Ive been to the RHS gym a few times, they must have been a basketball powerhouse back in the day. From the late 60's until early 80's they won a shitload of championships. That trophy case over there is pretty impressive, sad state that school is in now.

I heard that it was before that, and that's what did him in.

Best player between Pete and Shaq, IMO.

He could shoot the lights out of the place. His freshman year was incredible! When he got on a roll, shooting the baseline J, the PMAC rocked! Those were some FUN games (Rudy, Scales, Ethan, Willie Sims,....)

Bigger Tack Minor with a better jump shot.
