Have we ever thrown our ace in game one of this format, other than against Sheets/ULM in the very first year?

You have any idea the amount of lefty hitters we may face on friday?

Not sure if they would play matchups but just looking at their stats and the players with the most ABs it appears 4 LHs and a switch hitter get a lot of playing time.

Ross TWEETED that PM "said" that we will "probably" start Nola or Poche. It's not quoted in the actual article. Therefore, if Poche(probably happening) or Nola(not happening) start, then he was right. If neither one of them start, he can just come back and say "Well PM said probably", and all he did was tweet that, it didn't get put in the paper.

So, that along with their ace, and poche with the most rest make it seem a given he will start

It's smart to stop arguing in the face of logic and common sense. You don't pitch your ace against a four seed, especially one that you already beat this year with a guy not even on the team anymore. Nola isn't starting Friday.

You're probably right about Nola, however the rest of your post is hasty, because we didn't beat "this" team earlier in the year. With the change in pitchers SLU will be a very different team from the one we saw earlier. CPM is smart enough to be very wary of them. I believe he is considering Nola. He is looking at who Houston pitches in game one and what kind of matchups he'd get against SLU and Houston. There is no longer a huge difference between Nola and Poche, as Poche has become a solid 1B. If there are no obvious matchup advantages to throwing a righty in game 1, CPM will pitch Poche and save Nola for the second game. Probably 80% of the regionals will be won by the team that wins the second winners' bracket game.

Bouman is not out of the question either. Remember, we two-hit the Gators with neither Poche nor Nola on the mound. However, I doubt CPM wants to get too far away from the normal rest days.

Striking out is failing at small ball. Gotta put the ball in play.

edit: And I love me some small ball.

That's because they would probably strike out if they didn't.
