So, do you think LSU did the right thing or not with Coach Henry?
I thought Coach Henry was a great man but he really didnt do much in the way of coaching the runners that was all DS. Coach Henry was more of a figurehead when I was there. More on the lines of a Bobby Bowden.. Based on where he got the program I think a modest raise was a just thing, but I think Skip realized who was really coaching the team and didnt want to pay PH for it. I know I wasnt on the team all that long but in that whole time I hardly ever even spoke to coach henry.

How much revenue does men's track generate in net proceeds to LSU's athletic department?
As much as the golf team, who's about to get a 6-millon dollar renovation...and they're not 31-time national champions.
Btw, as great of a coach Henry is, LSU is still a top-5 team each year. In fact, LSU has actually become a better all-around track team. We've never had so many kids in different events. Both teams are incredibly young, and both will likely be top 3 next season. The girls might be number one. Both are bringing in great classes, btw.

How much dough does track bring in?
No clue. And, if that's what it's about with track and field, so be it. But, a modest raise to someone who built the program to its greatness for 17 years, or whatever. Meanwhile, we're kissing Pokey's arse, only to have to can her in disgrace....

With LSU's monster revenue and budget, what is 100 or 200 K, when the guy represents like 50% or more of the school's alltime national title haul?
It's not like Skip wasn't knocking down a few hundred more K as a retired figurehead these past few years, and more than he ever did when winning 5 national titles for the school..
LSU should've shown more genuine interest in Henry. I am friends with someone that had a son on schollie under Henry, and he says LSU could've kept him, if really wanted to.
As Catman says, Shaver did much or most of the coaching, as did Loren Seagrave back in the '80s. I believe Arkansas current HC is the former grunt work guy during much of John McConnell's great title hauls?

Sounds like most of the RANTards including myself are clueless about the worth of Henry to LSU; however, Skip Bertman knows the whole picture, and I accept his decision on the matter.

I don't believe he is, roar. He came from Northen Iowa, maybe?

I know what you're saying. I never cursed Bertman for letting Henry go. It just seemed like maybe a personality thing.... or maybe where Henry felt like it was his time, and it didn't work out. But, faith is for the God-fearing. It doesn't apply to belief in coaches. So, I speak sometimes.

Catman, The "FIGUREHEAD" wins two more national titles..sweeps both women and men's outdoor titles for what the 2nd or 3rd time?
Bobby Bowden and JoePa only wish they still could win national hardware in their "figurehead" eras. They can't even cash conference hardware.
