I really think he wanted to win a NC but the way you do it at ND isn't the way you do it at LSU.
That is where he fricked up

I don't think so either, but NIL is a totally different era and he seemed checked out with his total involvement as time went on. All the reports show a guy who was just trying to be a hands-off manager type. That doesn't work in the SEC.

I think he was way out of place in BR...or south of the Mason Dixon line.

His effort was forced. It was downhill from there. Then he checked out. The big long time contracts are a problem. It allows coaches to be complacent.

I don't know the answer. Incentive laden contracts need to become the norm.

He begged the athletic director to soften their schedule. Then he feasted on cupcakes and lost to really good teams.

It’s noteworthy that Notre Dame’s future schedules look much tougher. Freeman isn’t a pansy like Kelly.

I agree. Marcus Freeman recruits, develops, and coaches. Novel approach, right?

His biggest opponent was that we all turned on him after a year or so, so yes he probably checked out knowing he had ten years of dealing with people who would never accept him. So, the Brian became CEO and checked out.

Im sure we will do the same thing to Wilson and the next guy and next guy,,,

Accountable, tough minded, does not make excuses, does not point fingers, does not whine. Yeah, pretty much the opposite of Brian Kelly.

So glad Kelly is gone. What a waste of 4 years.
