I see this alot, and while I am confident the back-ups are going to do fine, they are back-ups for a reason. Also, not saying JD is the most dominant lineman, but who is in your opinion? This Oline has been touted all off-season as one of the strengths of the team, but I cannot think of one guy who is above the others at the moment. Their strength is in their experience and depth. Losing JD was a major hit to both of those.

LSU 37
Oregon 20

And if Freak is what I think he is, Oregon might not get to 20.

Short of Lee performing along the lines of a Foles or Barkely in terms of pass production, the loss of JJ simplifies things for the Duck's D quite a bit; you'll have a hard time convincing me that Jefferson got the starting nod for no good reason (this is college football we're talking about).

This has all the makings of a sloppy, D-dominated first half.

Special teams might well decide it.

Oregon is very good and they should win this game.

But I don't think they will, for whatever reason.

Hmm lets see, LSU will overcome by:

1. Kragthorpe isn't gone.
2. inserting the 2nd string who is just as good and has just as much experience
3. you're dumb. it's called depth. we have it.
4. RR. JL80. O'Dell. Boone. Wright. DeAngelo. Ware. Blue. Ford.

The problem is at rec. core is so young. Jl will be blitzed. They better know the hot routes!

Really? You might have to defend against the forward pass instead of stacking the box. You will have to cover the TE, who I am fairly certain JJ believes is not an eligible receiver. You will have to defend slant patterns, and deep balls.

I don't think that simplifies anything...

Miles calls all the plays anyway

2. The loss of starting QB
Shouldn't be hard to overcome 75 yards passing, an INT, fumble, and 4 pouts on the sideline
quote:

3. The loss of most experienced OL
Miles was an OL, so all of his OL sucks. Makes sense, huh?

4. The loss of #2 WR
I'm sure we can replace 254 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 226 rushing yards, and 2 rushing TDs. Heck, he didn't score a TD after the 2nd game of the year.

Answer: They can't. Oregon gets the best of them, but LSU fans ought to give them a pass. That's too much to overcome against a top 5 team.

Oregon has lost most of their starting DLine, LBs, and I think 3 of their OLine from last year. They are gonna miss out on those way more than we'll miss out on our guys.

Now, we might not be able to overcome the distractions, but it won't be because we lost some unproductive players and an OC who hasn't developed one game plan, called one play, or even sat in the booth for one minute of an LSU game.

Seems to me that Oregon will see a somewhat simplified O with little or none of that option, run by a QB that's much less mobile than JJ.

I have to assume that Lee would have been the starter were it really the case that his arm opens up your O that much more.
