re: How both LSU and the Gumps get into the playoffs

Tua doesn't matter. If @LSU is Bama's only loss, then they're getting in the playoff. There's really no question about it.
I don’t see it. If LSU wins out, I understand the argument in favor of Bama to the effect: “their only loss is to the #1 team”!
But the more pursuasive and logical argument is: “they played 1 top ten opponent, and in spite of a roster 3+ deep at virtually every position, they lost the 1 game that really mattered “.
Now, there’s a lot of football left. IOW, what looks like a laughable schedule at this juncture (1 reason I’m kinda glad to see Auburn tanking), by seasons end, who knows what their schedule will then look like. For example, ole miss is what, 5-2, with only losses to #5 LSU & #1 Bama, plus a win > Texas Tech.
What if ole miss and everyone else on their (Bama’s) schedule wins out, or, for common opponents yet to be played by Bama, those teams only additional losses are to LSU. Then their schedule strength is totally changed to the upside and, sadly, they make the final 4 over other 1 loss teams similarly situated, with little reason for others to bitch.
But assuming relative “chalk” going forward, just seems fairness commands an overachiever getting the nod > an underachiever, which is what Bama will be with anything other than an undefeated season!
The above assumes LSU runs the table & several other majors also have 1 loss (a “quality loss”) resume similar to LSU’s. Which would include a very high strength of schedule compared to Bama’s final SOS)

If LSU wins the sec with one loss and bama has one close loss to LSU, who gets left out? You really going to leave out bama who won last year and has been consistently elite for a decade?

LSU has one of the toughest schedules (if not THE toughest schedule) in modern college football. Just no way LSU can be left out if they win out, and are SEC champions.
However, the committee would screw over any other 1-loss team to get Bama into the playoffs. They wouldn't hesitate for a millisecond.

If Clemson, Note Dame and Ohio State finish undefeated then only 1 SEC school is getting in.

Even though NC State will play at Clemson, I would keep my eye on this game as a possible upset. I don't think this game is an automatic win for Clemson. NC State has a pretty decent team. An upset will certainly get the conversation going again that Clemson is not the dominant team of the past 3-4 years. Should be another interesting weekend of College Football. [

Rarely do teams go undefeated in 12 or 13 games. Maybe 1 or 2 each year. This year will be no different.
And each week, teams in the Top 10 lose.
In fact, I would say that 3 of the 4 current unbeaten teams will drop a game before this season is over.
Our remaining schedule is still more difficult than all of the teams ahead of us in the Top 4.
agree totally.... i just hope they keep us as an underdog the rest of the year... fingers crossed the media doesnt give us any respect and keeps doubting us... we are dangerous when felt disrespected..

What id really love is for LSU win the SEC and to beat Bama so bad that they won’t be allowed to backdoor into the playoffs again.
Let’s not get delusional.

Ala will no doubt back into the playoffs as per usual ... finish in 2nd place in the West, 3rd place in the conference, avoid having to play in the SECCG. It's bullshite.

The Big Ten champ has been left out of the Playoffs twice in favor of other teams ahead of them. PSU is down, MSU looks to be down but has played well recently, Wisconsin just took their second loss. Michigan's only loss is to Notre Dame, but they could easily drop another game to a team not name tOSU and then upset tOSU. Do you really think a 1-loss non-Big 10 Champ tOSU gets in ahead of Bama if they both have 1 loss and Bama's loss is to us when we were at home? tOSU is in if they win the Big 10 and probably Michigan as well provided they don't lose another game. No one else in the Big 10 gets into the playoffs without absolute calamity going down.

Alabama will not get in to the playoffs over a 1-loss sec champ LSU that has to beat UGA or UF in ATL. No chance.

I can sadly see this happening... bruh

Here’s what will happen.
As many of you here laughing at Memphis Tiger, he is absolutely correct. This could happen to LSU or another team that wins their conference if Tua is out for any period of time and they happen to drop a game.

But I can sure see a 1 loss Alabama getting in over a 1 loss sec champ UGA/FLA/UK...

Certainly UK, probably UF, not UGA.

Then for the 3rd time Bama gets a chance to play for the title after not winning their own conference division.
No thanks. I could give a rat's @ss about getting 2 SEC teams in there. As long as LSU is in there. If LSU is in there I for sure don't want to have to play Bama a 2nd time, ala 2011. Screw that.
