Still no answer as to why you obligate yourself to any coach for this amount of time financially.
As usual, this thread has morphed into Pro and Anti-Miles.
I don't think any rational person would deny that Miles has had a very successful run at LSU, if not a spectacular run relative to the history of the program as a whole. Likewise, no rational person would deny that Miles' methods are sometimes questionable or leave room for second-questioning.
With that being said, and in leaving Miles out of the picture for a second, is this a wise move for any university to financially obligate themselves to the extent that it could be an extreme burden on the program going forward?

I am not sure about either, but if memory serves (and assuming nothing has been changed), Saban doesn't have a buyout...meaning that could fire him and not pay him, and meaning he is free to leave without his new job having to pay Bama.
Assuming nothing has changed, Saban always has a clause that he can leave at any time, but if released there's a huge buyout. I always thought the contracts were one-sided that way, but it's all supply & demand.

Don't care what his buyout is just as long as they keep the clause in where we can fire him without paying anything since LSU is on probation.
