To the obvious point that football is absolutely essential to the survival of collegiate athletics and that no one is forcing the players to do anything they don't want.

If that makes you feel better, by all means, mark this down as a W.

They will get an extra year of eligibility just like college baseball players did

Can't wait to see how that messes up signing classes.

If there is a season this year, any draft-eligible player with a 3rd round grade or higher isn't going to play.

You're also going to see probably the most juniors enter the draft just to try and cash out now, even if they do opt to play this year.

All of this will even out, but it'll take a few years.

The

effect of covid effect
is that it kills people - even young ones - and nobody knows how long it will last or how bad it will get. Florida just reported 19,000+ new cases. If that's too difficult to understand, go ahead and mix and mingle all you want. Maybe natural selection will work and get rid of a few that are too dumb to deserve to reproduce!

I would actually respect the people who came out and said that football needs to be back just because they want to watch it again.

Instead, everyone is coming up with every excuse imaginable why sports need to be back when they don't actually give a frick about the economic impact it has. They, like all of us, just want to be entertained by it.

Broski,

You do realize that for a number of the players, this is all they have, right? If Kary Vincent, for example, is able to play and continue his developmental arc, it could literally mean millions for him.

There are hundreds of high school kids who are rising juniors or seniors who are not on the recruiting radar because they weren't fully grown in the 8th grade who need this season to show what they are capable of.

College players are adults and can decide whether to play. High school players have parents who can help with this decision.

Your desire to just cancel it all because of a virus with an IFR (total population) of 0.26% and an IFR (under 25) of nearly zero is more reckless than the recklessness you accuse others of. Do what you want with your own son but mind your business about others and their choices as to whether or not to play.

My son is playing if they have a season. He is going to have a visor on his helmet. He is going to leave the practice field directly into a car and carry his gear back and forth each day. He will not be allowed to visit my parents or my wife's parents. We will take his temperature daily. And he will mask up in public. But he's playing if assholes like you and cuckold school administrators afraid of their own shadow stay out of the fricking way.

I understand all of that, but if you are considering hypotheticals for players, you have to consider the hypotheticals for the virus as well.

Fair. If the IFR rate increases, we can reevaluate. Particularly the IFR for people under the age of 50 and without immune deficiencies. So far all it has done is decline.

Yep. Spineless leadership from top down. Relegated to the lowest common denominator is what we’re dealing with.

No, college football is essential for supporting commercialized, bigtime college athletics. Which is itself not essential.

And if some other asymptomatic player coughs on him in a dogpile, no visor will protect him. Then, when you bury him and/or his brother(s) and/or sister(s) and or your wife, you can console yourself with how "right" you were.

They probably will ask the players to sign waivers, if they play. Also, we can't necessarily assume all players will play. Gotta be some nervous parents out there.

If some asymptomatic person coughs within 6 feet of him for the remaining 22 hours a day he can likewise catch it.
He can also catch it if he grabs a door knob at school or at a business place and rubs his eyes. He has a higher risk of being paralyzed playing football (like Derek Stingley's grandfather). But like Derek Stingley and his father, I too shall tell you to shut the frick up and let us make our own decisions. You can choose to live in fear if you like.

LSU wouldn't be the school it is without our success in football. Everyone cares, whether they know it or not.
