I have watched numerous LSU baseball games over the years, and it seems to me that we always struggle against guys who change speeds throwing change ups and curves. The OSU pitcher was only throwing his fastball at 83-85mph. All of our hitters pretty much swing "from their heels" and try to crush the ball. For the true power hitters, this is fine, but our other hitters need to shorten their stroke and go opposite field. We also have a tendency to swing at bad pitches. FSU and OSU have used the high fastball to entice many of our hitters to swing at bad pitches. Oh well, let's beat FSU and move on.

They've struggled all year in the beginning of games against guys that throw 85-88 fb and drop it to 75 with junk. It takes them a few innings to get used to it, but they end up shite stomping the ball in the end. They'll get it together and skull drag FSU Wednesday. It's Omaha, and they about to win this shite.

They need to stop coming out the gates swinging at the first pitch.

The last four games the pitchers have been through the first two innings at 20 pitches

They all need to look at OS film and mimic their swings. They don't hit for power but square every ball up for line drives or singles in the gaps. These pop flies have to stop. They are not going to be successful with the way they swung the bats last night. Almost every ball that OS hit last night was squared up, even the foul balls sounded like solid hits. They really need to put on some film and change what they do. We can beat this team the second time around but not if we don't change how we swing the bats. They also need to pick a pitch and stay with it. If the guy isn't pitching a breaking ball you can hit stay with the fastball. If the guy pitches a breaking ball that you can hit and he is pitching it for strikes then stay with that. It's not all that difficult.

Just let the ball get deeper. That kid was throwing hard enough to blow it by them they just were not being patient. See the ball longer and how about trying to take the ball the other way. Poor approaches at the plate. That guy from OSU was a pitcher. Shows you that you dont have to throw 95 to be effective.

Their pitcher had a great change up which is what caused us to have so many pop ups. The problem is we let too many fast balls go by. We watched a ton of fast balls last night

Did you think of this groundbreaking analysis whenever we won 17 straight games en route to Omaha?

Just wondering if you're coaching skills are so good that you were able to recognize this problem, but kept it to yourself while we were winning?

No Boh, this "problem" has been hurting some of our hitters for years. Some of our hitters have to know their physical limitations, shorten their swings, and become line drive hitters. By the way, I'm am all for LSU. This was also a problem in the Fla. State game; their pitcher was very good, but there is such a thing as changing your approach. The only guys we have who should never give in are Deichmann and to a certain extent Pap.
