I love the kids heart and want so badly for him to be legit, but he’s just not a starting pitcher in the SEC.

Time to hand over the reigns. No idea who you slide in that spot, but there are much, much better arms on this team.

Needs to be a middle reliever. Not a starter in my book.

I agree with this but IMO he’s the best that we have to fill the role right now
Hopefully one of the new guys can develop into a starting role as the season goes on

I think Dutton would be a good option. My guess is that’s probably been the plan all along, he just needs time to develop.

That’s just it
We only see these guys for an inning before they are pulled
They need to learn to pitch through adversity & build up stamina to pitch longer outings

I don’t care for JJ’s approach so far

I agree. I think Dutton is a weekend starter by the end of the season. Maybe sooner than later, though.

It’s conservative, that’s for sure. It’s high risk high reward to try and stretch him this early. You can run him out there for 4-5 and let him figure it out, but you risk killing his confidence if it doesn’t go well.

There’s benefits to both, I think CJJ wants him to build confidence and then start extending him. Just a guess though

Yep, it’s time to see what the young arms have. I understand giving experience the first couple cracks at it, but that ship has sailed. Plug in the young guys and let them grow.
