but giving up a run 100% qualifies as a shaky inning
Hess' first inning was shaky because he gave up 2 hits and a walk and allowing a run.
Just allowing a run doesn't qualify as a shaky inning.
The same with just giving up a hit in an inning.
Other teams are gonna score runs, you cant be perfect every pitch or inning. You can have a great inning and still have a bad pitch that gives up a run on one swing.

This is kind of going out of your way to argue with me.
If he had just given up a solo homer, you could say it was just one bad pitch. But I clearly said that letting a couple of guys on base is a shaky inning, and that giving up a run is even more shaky.
Would it explain my point better if I had said "giving up a couple of base runners and a run ON TOP OF THAT is even worse"? Because, yeah, a solo homer isn't a big deal. But given that he allowed three base runners, outside of the intentional walk, AND gave up a run, that is absolutely a shaky inning, and that was my point.
The guy I responded to was trying to make the point that because he worked his way out of the jam without giving up any more runs, it was somehow NOT a shaky inning. Which makes no sense at all, to me.

I gave the guy a compliment and that's it. I have my opinion, you can have yours.

The shaky first inning huh? He gave up 1 run in that first inning. It wasn't shaky
