here is some more stats to complete the picture:
2009 through 10 games - 8-2 record
Sacks 27 for -193yrds
INTs 5 for 31 yards, 6.2yd per INT return AVG
2008 - 8-5 record
Sacks 22 for -185 yards
INTs 18 for 461 yards, 26.5yd per INT return AVG
2007 - 12-2 record
Sacks 30 for -209yds
INTs 13 for 137yards, 10.5yd per INT return AVG
Sacks cause punts, INTS get you beat. In 2008 18 INTs were returned for a 26.5 yd avg per INT. So not only did LSU turn the ball over, we flipped the field position and put our mediocre defense in terrible positions. Not to mention the 7 INTs returned for TDs

Crowton...not many you get to see him, since he's up in the box.

The only numbers I care about are that we are ranked 8th nationally have two loses against the number one and two ranked teams and will probably go to a major bowl. So what's all the bitchin about the yardage. W's are what matters.

It's been a combination of things. One play it the OL, the next something else.
I finally so a little light against bama. JJ looked good and the OL was going a good job. But, then a stupid penalty would kill us.
Regardless, I think Crowton's done a terrible job this year. Almost on par with the clusterfk that was our two headed DC last year. The offense often times looks confused out there, much like the D last year.
The rest of the year will get interesting. IMO, next week our O is going to get it's arse handed to it. ole miss's front 7 is going to give this OL fits. Then the hit will be turned up on the OC even more.
The biggest problem will be that I don't think Miles will make a change at OC. So unless Crowton changes his philosophy, we'll be looking at this O again next year. Although with JJ and soe of the young OL having more experience, maybe it gets better.

now look at his resume for an ever more noticeable trend ... his third season everywhere is a drop off in productivity ..

The guy from BYU that posted that article like Nostradamus should tell all. He basically stated this exactly. A new OC would spark the team next year and could possibly help recruiting next year and everyone knows what an opportunity we have for next year in recruiting. I am ready for some change and for some new offense excitement.

i'd hope that we have 2 losses after playing 2 great teams and nobody else

SPPEDY, you are being plagiarized. I just recieved your original post in the form of an email. No credit to SPEEDY.

so basically crowton has to have a new offense or Sr. QB to have an effective offense?

I had to pass algebra I and algebra II before they let me take calculus
not too many offenses are geared towards inexperienced QBs coming straight in and lighting shite up. Especially in the South with our preponderance of HSs with "athlete" type QBs that just run around and use their legs and thrive on broken plays.
Someone will come into this thread and say matt barkley and i will say "started 4 years in high school in a sophisticated pro style offense"
destrehan didnt run a sophisticated pro style offense, JJ has learned how to play QB from scratch from day one at LSU, don't kid yourself.

yes because drop linebacker is the quarterback of the defense everywhere in the known universe

with JJ now? at Oregon with Dixon/Clemens? in 2007 with Flynn? Don't get hung up on the words "pro style" and go off in a SFP tangent on silly details. Try to keep your focus here on what JJ came from (algebra I at Destrahan) and what he is being asked to do now (calculus on Top 10 teamin the toughest conference in the country).
So you can't have it both ways, either Crowton does too much and the scheme is over the personnel's head or he doesn't do enough and the scheme is too simple because of his lack of confidence in his personnel's ability to execute. Which is it?

still mostly spread and option, with some i-form up the gut miles ball
our offense is mostly run out of the shotgun

he has simple schemes
his problem is he has no rhythm to his playcalling, and a lot of that is based in the fact that he tries to include too many differing systems, many of which he can't scheme/coach/call
he's a disaster on anything to do with the option, other than 1 play we ran against UF in 2007
and that's the other problem that leads to him not having any rhythm. he tries to include so many styles, he gets away from what is working and doesn't go back to it
case in point: that play from 2007 that we never saw again
also the fact that he's so bad at the option, that we can't even run a wildcat, which is a simple play

Anyone else noticing a trend?
the truth...we went from a great offensive line to a good offensive line to and average offensive line in three years. fix that...and everything else returns to full speed ahead.

Oh, yeah, and I almost forgot. Apparently T-Bob Hebert and Josh Dworaczyk are the worst O-linemen in the history of CFB, and are totally responsible for the dropoff in rushing yards this season.
Nobody is worse than Brandon Smalling. I will never forget that guy getting totally bulldozed on a fg or extra point in that 31-0 bama beating. Pathetic.

Crowton gets one more year. If the offense is just as poor and doest show that it's turned aroung then he' let go.
100% agree, UNLESS coach miles has discovered that crowton's weaknesses ARE the significant reasons for our production. then, we need to move on sooner. it could be our other offensive coaches that are the problem.
