they were talking about which coaches they think have the most to prove in bowl season, and Herbstreit said he thinks Miles has the most to prove in bowl season "going from winning a national title a season ago to having a losing SEC record".

do you agree or disagree with this?

I don't totally agree, but I do think a bowl victory would soothe a lot peoples' ruffled feathers after the way this season went down.

I agree. Miles needs this team to play well and win the bowl game.

he needs to win his fanbase back and give them hope for the future. So yes. This offseason is going to be awesome if the things I hear will happen. Can't wait to get back in the mix

Disagree! Miles needs to prove the most from signing day 'til the end of next season. This one game will not redeem him as a good coach. Judging by ticket sales, it doesn't really matter to the fans either, myself included.

I'm sure ol' Herbie would LOVE to see Coach Miles fail, then he could re-spin his Miles to Michigan story as a Miles SHOULD'VE gone to Michigan story.

I'd LOVE to see Coach Miles "prove" something in the bowl game but really & truly, at this point, the only thing he can prove is that he was able to rally the fallen troops & get them to fight for pride. Don't get me wrong, I think that would be a great accomplishment & speak a lot of Coach Miles but don't look for anything more. If he could prove to me that he FOUND an SEC caliber EXPERIENCED QB somewhere in the program or FOUND an SEC caliber EXPERIENCED DC, yeah, I'd feel that he "proved" something but neither of those 2 things, which happen to account for 98% of what was wrong with LSU this season, are going to happen.

Too much is being laid on this bowl game. Jordan Jefferson may prove to be a good future prospect & gain valuable experience but when the night is over, he will still be an inexperienced freshman QB. Our defense may "NUT UP" & play with some pride & with some determination but that will have to happen with the 2-headed failure of a DC we've delt with all year. This bowl game can only give us a glimpse of better things to come. If you want Coach Miles to "prove" something, let's plan this same conversation next year at this same time. Then I'll be looking for something to be proven.

G E A U X T I G E R S!!!

Also disagree. This is just one game and we have the same set of players and coaches....next year and possibly the following year are the telltale years.

I say OU has the most to prove....if FL whips them, it continues to confirm the SEC superiority over Big 12's best....if they win, the talk begins on the power in the Big 12.

What's critical about this potential "shift in perceived power" is the basis for polls in upcoming years to slant their votes more toward SEC teams such as LSU, FLA, GA, Tenn, & Bama....

we won't get that "free pass" in preseason and mid-year polls agin without putting together dominating years again like 2006-2007.

I think it is Bob Stoops as well, even though he as a national title, he's been choking in the bowl games as of late, if he loses again that has to start raising some eyebrows, if UF blows them out ... it really oughtta make people stop and go, hm, maybe Bob Stoops isn't this high & almighty coach.
Weis also has a lot to prove, hasn't won a bowl game and barely got into one this year.
Miles could use a win to get some of the heat off of his back, but next season is by far a bigger test than this 1 game with all the same issues that have plagued us all this season.

disagree. Herbstreit's credabilty as a journalist shattered after last year's fiasco. he's one step above finebaum, which ain't too good. Miles needs a win , but I think there are several more games with alot more riding on them.

Agree with TigerFannzz...Herbie was embarrassed by Miles during the 'Damn strong' presser and would love a little payback so why not put the monkey on Miles' back. A win over a team that runs a 20-year-old offense would be nice but let's be honest. You can't teach that kind of discipline in three weeks of preparation, especially when EVERBODY got the corner on us this year. The REAL proof is in the 2009 season. Win the West and all the bandwagon fans who want Miles' head will be back on board. It's the price we pay for a winning program these last five years.

Did the frosted haired fruitcake on ESPN give any reasoning behind his argument?

He doubted Miles against Miami, we spanked that arse.
He doubted Miles against Notre Dame, we crucified the mighty quinn.
He didn't really doubt Miles against Ohio State....oh wait.

Seriously, Miles blows his opponents out, and it looks like the defensive coaching staff will be gone before hte bowl game. What does he really have to prove that any other coach doesn't?
