This brought my hate level down a few notches.

I don't get the hate for Herbstreit. He pimps LSU often.

Oh he's still trying to make it up to Les for
his faux pas at the 2007 SECCG...

It all comes down to whether he wants it or not. If he does, the Honey Badger takes what he wants... Who's going to stop him? Not Me!!! End of Story!

Right now, other than Trent Richardson, Andrew Luck and Geno Smith, there is nobody REALLY impressing me.

BTW, I heard Mathieu hates that nickname. We, the fans, need to come up with something new. Then again, the dude is like Mike Tyson in cleats, maybe it's good when he's PO-ed!

Im sure Herbstreit will change his mind once he hears of the Honey Badgers choice at QB. The news is going to tear down the entire LSU football program

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it was Herbstreit that mentioned that "the definition of college football was Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La on a SATURDAY NIGHT!" I do believe this was before the Miles to Michigan story in 07 though.

Feels great and I love the guy but this isn't sustainable compared to a ball carrier or QB. And don't give me outlier examples like Charles Woodson.

DEG - I would be there with you 99 times out of 100. You never want to say never, BUT the kid has already set LSU records. He's a unique player and he already has national attention. Assuming he continues at the pace he's set for himself, he will be a high vote-getter - high praise by itself for a defensive player - and, if nothing else, gives himself this year to set up for next year.

There's no question everyone knows his name, now. People outside of our program are following him because of his play, his personality, his backstory - I would say, at least since Kevin Faulk, only Trindon Holliday and Mathieu have had this kind of focused attention, in a positive way (maybe Josh Reed and Dorsey, because of their multiple National award wins, but Mathieu has transcended even that to a certain degree).

You never want to say never, but I don't think Matheiu will win the Heisman Trophy. Being the #2 vote-getter, from the secondary, from LSU would be a HUGE "moral" victory for him, and the program.

If he lands ANYWHERE in the Top 10 at the end of this season, perspective:

58 - Cannon, 3rd

59 - Cannon, 1st (Won award)

62 - Stovall, 2nd (One of the closest runner-ups ever)

72 - Bert Jones, 4th

77 - Charles Alexander, 9th

78 - Alexander, 5th (on an 8-4 team)

07 - Glenn Dorsey, 9th (Defensive Tackles don't normally get votes in the Heisman, but Dorsey got 30)

I fully expect Tiger Stadium to implode upon itself within the next three days.

Just hope all this Heisman talk doesn't go to his head. PP7 was never the same player last year after All this crap started.

PP7 had a lot of hype surrounding him out of high school. The Heisman talk may have gone to his head IDK.

However, LSU was the only major school that showed interest in TM7. So he plays with a chip on his shoulder and I don't think the Heisman talk will take his 'edge'. He probably still feels like he has a lot to prove.

You are a bit behind on the idea that he hate the HB tag. He seems now to have embraced it.
