so do we just have complete silence while the band is making their way down to the field to prepare for the halftime show? look i'm all about tradition, but i think this would be one of the few times that you could play music over the pa system.

We play the fight song over the PA system as the team runs in for half time. Thats fine...I have a problem with the garbage they play after each touchdown!!! 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter...unacceptable.

Don't confuse the point of this argument. Tonight was the FIRST NIGHT IN TIGER STADIUM HISTORY that AC/DC, Metallica et al was pumped into Tiger Stadium. It was weird and just plain WRONG.

My point is that there is an anti-tradition trend at work here in the last 6 or 7 years and I don't like it. Don't confuse 'first time' with 'last time'. If the powers-that-be managed to make this happen you can almost guarantee it wno't be the last time you hear it.

I have to agree here...
at the phenomenal Florida game last year, they piped in "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi when Hester was about to go for one of his crucial 4th downs

really sent shivers down my spine and got me pumped

The thing that really, really pissed me off about this subject happened in pregame warm ups.

Tiger Band starts playing Hey Fightin Tigers, and whoever operates the music I guess got his/her feelings hurt because first of all, they wouldn't lower the shitty music fast enough. And when Hey Fightin Tigers was over with, they immediately (I mean not one second had passed) cranked up the shite they were playing as if to say "you done now?" I could have gone up there into the pressbox with a sledgehammer and started pounding the controls when I heard this!

And finally, regarding the songs that are played... we are not 15 year old girls listening to WFMF. Please stop playing pop/R&B (if you are going to play something).

Am I confused?

TGBFTL just won a national contest, voted on daily by thousands of fans, as being the greatest college band in the country...

and someone decided to PAY for the rights to canned music? Because they did have to pay for it, you better believe that.

My dad is a Golden Band alum--I'll get him on those numbers tomorrow. He didn't say anything about it last night but he was probably too unhappy with the play of the team.

Sent the following email...

Dear Mr. Alleva,

I had the pleasure of meeting you this year as you watched the Golden Band from Tiger Land march down Victory Hill. It made me happy to see you enjoying the passion of LSU fans that day.

For the first time since I have been a fan and/or student of LSU, I heard piped in music over the loud speakers in Tiger Stadium during regulation play. I understand it was during times when the Golden Band from Tiger Land was not in the stands or resting.

Piped in Music in not LSU football. We have a tradition of our wonderful band leading us in supporting our teams. I have been all over the SEC supporting the Tigers. One of the many things that makes me proud to be an alumni and fan of LSU is our traditions. The tradition of the GBFTL shines when I visit other stadiums. Those stadiums are forced to pipe in music to make up for this lack of tradition.

Tiger Stadium does not need piped in music over the loud speakers during regulation play. Please preserve the tradition of Tiger Stadium, the GBFTL and stop the piped in music.

When you have 30k in the stadium who the hell cares??? TS is already lame at that point.

Seriously - Livin on prayer? Students singing that? It doesn't get worse than that!

Yeah....LSU should never be "living on a prayer." esp. in Tiger Stadium. We control pour fate, we control whether we win or lose. We're never living on a prayer. It is fine at the Varsity or Fred's Friday night before the game, but has no place in Tiger Stadium on gameday (or whatever road venue we play at). Tulane was "living on a prayer." Next week Saban will be living on aprayer.
