Now contribute to the topic.
There is a segment of our fan base that is unbearable. This a-hole being one of them.

It’s coming from the fact that LSU fans have been waiting 10+ years for a “serviceable” QB
10 years ago our QB was the number 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. 5 years ago Mettenberger threw for 3k yards, 22 touchdowns, and then started 10 NFL games for the Titans. How old are you?

Just the fact that he has been taught by Urban gives a lot of people hope. LSU doesn't have a good reputation in grooming qbs in case you didn't know.

He was highly recruited. So were Narcisse and Brennan. He throws a decent ball vs air. So did Etling. He comes from a football background. So do a ton of college qb’s. Hopefully he is incredible. But there is nothing concrete to definitely suggest he will be
Ok buddy. I guess once he's logged 1000 attempts we may finally get to one day know if he's any good.

His career stats are 29-37 287 yd. and 2 TD in 10 games

We have talented QB's on our roster with just about the same experience, so what makes him the starter over them?

I just don't see where all of the hype is coming from
Those stats are drastically better than our other QBs?

Well, our QBs looked bad in the Spring Game for one.
Secondly, this guy was thought by many OSU fans to be the best QB on their roster and deserving of a starting spot.
Third, he's been coached up by Urban Meyer for years and has graduated college already in 3 years, hinting at maturity.
Fourth, he's physically impressive.
Fifth, he comes from a football family pedigree.
Sixth, LSU players have already come out and said he's a great leader and his work ethic is very impressive.
At least read and reply, when a guy gives such a good response to your question.

I think a lot of it is based on how our QBs looked in the Spring Game. They looked bad, where Burrow played extremely well in Ohio State’s SG. He looked like a legit starting QB. Our guys didn’t look ready. Now whether that translates into a great regular season performance is anyone’s guess, but that’s where the hype came from imo.

es, Burrow was a high caliber QB coming out of high school and yes I have seen his highlights.

What are you missing? Heralded out of high school, looks the part, has the tools, coached by an offensive wizard for 3 years, coach's son. Yeah, he's got to actually perform on the field, but how are you not understanding the hype?

His background gives hope that he will be a good QB. However, he has no meaningful snaps against quality opponents (or any opponents). Therefore, we don't know what we are getting.
As for the OSU fans, they sound like every other fan base in the country --- the best QB on the team is always the back up.
Book it --- if he goes 25-30 for 300 yards and 3 tds against Miami statutes will be ordered. There will be at least one gofundme on this board by the next day. If he goes 15-25 for 200 yards and throws two picks half this board will be complaining that O wasted practice time on developing the talented QBs we already have.

Agreed. Whatever it takes to get the W in Dallas

Because you're a level headed fan. There are plenty of 4 and 5 star failures that just dont ever cut it.
I hope he isnt one of them.
LSU fans were forced to watch terrible QB play during the JJ years and have come to assume that schools with better passing stats, by default, have better backup QBs than our starters.
insane....Brenan had to play a bit as a freshman last year, in a system that SUCKED arse for a young qb (insane presnap shifts, personnel changes, etc) He still almost started over a qb that is holding his own in the Patriots camp.
The facts are simple and there just isnt enough of a sample size on ANY of our QBs or Burrow, to say that someone is the savior!
It's just stupid fricking massage board posters who think they know the game more than others.

Well, for starters (no pun intended), whoever wins the job will get to throw the ball to our massive freak show WRs. If I was the QB I'd be excited. Whoever wins the job will have an opportunity to shine.

If you don't understand then I don't think the Rant can help you.
FWIW, it's more like hope than hype.

Well our brilliant head coach admitted in his Moscona interview that he intentionally sent blitzes and constant pressure through a patch work OL to put excessive pressure on the QBs to see how they handled it. we got what we got. None of them stood out. No other coach in the country would do that in a spring game. What expect from a shrimp boat captain
