Meaning this whole thread is a huge waste of time for everyone.

But how completely ironic that a Hawthorne lover started the thread.

Once again, I fricking love Hawthorne, the coolest man ever and the biggest LSU fan without a doubt. However, Hawthorne is so fricking dumb and he says the stupidest shite that I do not know what he is talking about during the game. He has to go, but no way it will happen.

That is my point, JH isn't going anywhere (then again, neither is our baseball team)

You never know, even the ranters don't think this.

Honestly, from some of my earliest LSU memories to now, Hawthorne has been there....To me, it wouldnt be the same without his voice. As I got older, and learned the games I discovered that his knowledge is...um...lacking. That said, I listen religiously from Fort Polk, as the coverage isnt as good as Baton Rouge and I take it with a grain of salt. In fact, I kind of think of him Harry Carrey-ish-ly. Its comic relief and I find it hilarious. It actually makes my listening experience more complete...the thrill of the game, the high comedy of Hawthornes game calling.
All In all, his mistakes arent going to cost us the game, it just takes some clarification sometimes. I can deal with it.

I notice he gets under my skin a hell of a lot more when we're losing. I find him amusing when we're playing well.

Whats the purpose?
What's the purpose of what, Ms. Drama Queen?

Does it really matter?
Yes, it does.

I want an announcer who understands the game, knows the rules, gets the ball/strike count correct, knows the difference between left and right, gets the names of players correct, stops telling us what just happened and then reverses what he just told us because he got it wrong, stops saying "Will you look at that?!?" when his audience is listening on the radio and CAN'T 'look at that' and who will stop whining when a baseball game is running long or because a pitcher takes 5 seconds longer to throw the ball than the announcer thinks it should take.

well trying is all that matters at LSU.

Have you ever read the posts on this site?

If trying was all that matters at LSU, then Curly Hallman, Gerry DiNardo and Les Miles (all who have made fewer mistakes than Hawthorne) would not have taken the beating that they do here.

Hawthorne is a professional who gets paid to report the games to those who are unable to see them in person. To that end, accuracy is the most important thing. At that he is terrible and gets worse with each game.

So because he loves LSU we have to forgive him for sucking at his job?

I love my line of work but the minute I start sucking it up there would a performance improvement plan thrown on my desk and the next step is a pink slip.

Its about performance and accountability......

If you think JH gets under YOUR skin, you should try being poor Charlie Hanigriff. That guy deserves a raise.

Just once I would love for Charles H. or Doug M. to say to him during one of his rantings while not understanding what is going on, his idiotic attempts at defending his ignorance, or whatever,

"Just shut the F$&*# up you blind as a bat moron and try to understand the rules and basic concepts you idiot!!"

This board would explode!!
