I guess I just need some reassurance. With a leader like Saban, if hes on your team, you love him. If hes not, you hate him. Thats what this is right? I mean, you all really don't believe that he "did LSU wrong" or anything like that, do you?
I have no probelem with Nick Saban. He led us to the promise land and put LSU football back on the map. Thank you Coach Saban.
Why should I hate him? Because he Out Coached our current Coach? frick THAT NOISE!

I have a very simple and incredibly effective metric for measuring coaches: championships won. Lengendary coaches achieve their status by winning multiple titles. Saban has garnered three national championships, incuding two of the last three. I have no choice but to therefore conclude he is a brilliant coach.
I hate him only to the extent I "hate" all of LSU's adversaries and all of the enemies who stand between LSU and championships. I hate him because he coaches for Bama, a divisional SEC rival.

I hate that he's coaching at Alabama, but only because he's so good. I don't hate Nick Saban.
exactly
i dont hate nick saban either. he never wronged LSU. he took a great opportunity with the dolphins, decided it was a mistake, then took another great opportunity with alabama. what does LSU have to do with any of this?
i dont believe he ever did anything to intentionally harm LSU, thats silly

I think the tornado last year really toned him down some. He still is very driven but I think he realizes some things are just bigger than him or football.
The only reason folks have an issue is that he went to Bama. If he goes to SC, GA, or any team OUTSIDE of our div. I don't think you see this type of reaction.

I've NEVER understood the Saban hatred...
1) He ALWAYS wanted to be an NFL head coach.
2) He elevates LSU and gets to an NC in 2003.
3) 2004 is a rebuilding season, OK record, recruiting looks OK for 2005.
4) Dolphins job opens up w/ a "hands off" owner = total control = DREAM.
5) Saban leaves (after saying what anyone else would say to their own boss if they were exploring other jobs ["I'm happy here."]).
6) Miles is hired and proves to be be right guy for the job (esp. in light of Katrina).
7) Saban realizes that the "new" NFL isn't for him and wants to get back to college, where his style works better. Would like to come back to LSU, but they have a coach that is not going anywhere. Knows the SEC is where it's at.
8) Job opens up at Bama. They are willing to give him unreal $$$$ to coach a storied program that is but a good coach and one recruiting class from kicking arse.
What in the Hell would you expect the man to do????????

Saban leaving LSU on Christmas Day tells you all you need to know about his personality. No he does not care about anything other than the process and getting it done his way with minimal distactions from the outside (the media).
He probably announced on Christmas just to f with the reporters.
With that said, when the 2003 team is honored he can stay at his camp in Georgia for all I care.

Believe me, I'm all for people who actually try to help the grammatically challenged. Still, a little puctuation might further your cause.

That is exactly what the bama PR machine wanted their gump followers to believe.
Plain and simple....bama was desperate...program sucked and several coaches had already refused them. Mal Moore was on the verge of getting canned so the constant inquiries about $abun led to $exton getting the biggest check for $abun to that point. So Nicky took and bailed out on MIami as he has done on everyone else. (we all would have).
Alabama the university is merely an excuse for the state to have a FB team.

I bet the majority of morons on this board that blast Saban for leaving to the NFL would leave their current dogshit jobs for an extra 5K in salary. It's a business, he doesn't "owe" anything to anybody but himself and his family. Get over it.

quote:No, you don't get it. Very few cared that he left. Some were releaved for various reason, some of which were covered earlier in your post.
mean, I get it, he left LSU. All of you aren't really that hurt about that are you?
quote:Of he did. He returned to the SEC WEST! Who fricking does that? Come back and hurt the team you just led to a national championship. The guy has no soul. No loyalty. No character.

For taking the job in the SEC and especially in the SEC west, YES. I do think he did LSU wrong. My belief is he'll eventually do bama wrong. It is all about him and the money. Nothing eklse really matters. His ego will push him to try the pros's again. But it'll be a winning team.

If only every LSU fan realized this.

LOL - So what exactly is your point? Saban has done exactly what any coach would do to climb the ladder to a head coaching position and then what any head coach does to keep climbing to better and higher paying jobs. He has managed and maximized his career wonderfully. And you admit, in a rare moment of candor and sense, that you would have done the same thing. Good for you because it would mean you're smart.
Le$ Mile$ has done the exact same thing - hopscotch from job to job trying to climb the coaching ladder and increase his GUARANTEED income.
Mile$ has no real loyalty to LSU - he's simply stuck. No sane NFL team will hire him and he's too expensive for most college teams, so he stays. But each year he and his agent cook up a way to pad his compensation (money and years). So, do I hate Le$ Mile$ for this? Of course not. As you point out, he's doing what any of us would in the same situation. But Mile$ is NO DIFFERENT THAN NICK SABAN in this regard.
As a head coach, however, Mile$ is not in Saban's league.
