Read it and weep...
In four years at LSU, Miles has led the charge in what has been the best run in the history of football at the
school. Since taking over the program in January of 2005, Miles has led LSU to a national title, a Southeastern
Conference championship, two appearances in the SEC Championship Game, three straight top five finishes,
and four bowl victories, two of which were BCS contests.
Throw in 42 victories and three seasons of at least 11 victories and that makes for the best four-year stretch
of football in school history.
Miles' record with the Tigers is an astonishing 42-11 with those victories representing the most by any LSU
football coach over a four-year period. In addition to his 42 wins, some other notable accomplishments during his
first four years with the Tigers include: only coach in LSU history to beat Auburn, Florida and Alabama in same
season - and he's done it twice; only first-year coach in SEC history to lead team to league's title game; nine wins
over coaches who have won national titles; only coach in LSU history to lead Tigers to three straight top five final
rankings; and a perfect 4-0 record in bowl games, which includes wins in the BCS Championship Game and the
Sugar Bowl.
LSU's success under Miles hasn't been just on the playing field as the Tigers have also excelled in the classroom
as well as being active participants within the community. With an approach that demands his players strive
for excellence and pursue an education while representing the University in first-class fashion, the response by
the players has been overwhelming. In addition to averaging over 10 wins for the past four years, the Tigers have
had 66 players earn a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll with another 85 earning their college diploma.
Sixteen of the 18 seniors on the 2008 football team graduated, while 18 members of the 25-man senior class
from the 2007 national championship team have earned their degree.
The Tigers also played an instrumental role in the recovery efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita n
2005, two of the most devastating natural disasters to hit the Louisiana coast.
On the field, the Tigers have produced 25 NFL Draft picks over the past four

Sorry, forgot this tidbit...
Now, with the Tigers becoming the first school in the country to have won two BCS National Championships,
the foundation for the LSU football program continues to be solid. After 42 wins, including 17 over foes ranked
among the nation's top 25, and with four-straight recruiting classes ranked among the top 10 in the nation, including
the nation's No. 1 class in 2009, Miles and the Tigers have solidified their standing as one of college football's
premier programs.

I dunno dude.. I'd say Miles has to be doing something right with the record, the no loss ooc slate, championships, recruiting..
He's certainly made some decisions that made me say wtf.. but whose to say that my decisions would've turned out any better?? I'll leave it in proven capable hands..
That said.. another year like last is possible.. Anything is possible.. and if we had another 8-5 season I would expect recruiting to suffer a bit.. and trickle down through the program.. But I think it's going to take much more than that to knock LSU out of the category of Elite. Miles has done exactly what he was expected to do.. Take a recently great program and continue the success.. I don't think you can ask for much more than he supplied..

He won 8 games. He's had only one season where he won fewer than 11 games here thus far. You'd cut Saban slack if he did it
Psst. $atin won 8 games twice in 5 years at LSU. He only won as many as 11 games in the NC year.
ByteMe-if you Ninja kicked this a-hole to the curb, this Bud's for you.

I don't think all of this will die down until Miles has a good year AFTER this one.
Wow. So every coach is fricked for the first 4-5 years of their careers because no matter how good they do, the best they can get is "it was the other guy's players".

cenlatiger , get some professional medical help. You put a nonfactual statement on here like it is an absolute fact. LES may not be the best coach in america but he is one of the best based on his winning record at LSU. His record is winning season after winning season. Now that you have shone everybody how intelligent you are! Would you enlighten us to who the best five coaches are. To make this fair to coach Miles and LSU base your determination on last four seasons....We are waiting!!!!

I wouldn't call Les a "great" coach because IMO that takes more than 4 years to earn. But at this juncture in his tenure at LSU I'd give him something like an overall A-.
'05: A-
'06: A
'07: A+
'08: C
(I'm factoring in some credit for the outstanding '09 recruiting class and some for the upcoming '10 class)
Does that make him a "good" coach? Strictly a matter of opinion but in mine, yes.
Consider this: for whatever reasons since he's been at LSU Les is afforded no more than half-credit for everything positive (Nick still seems to get the other half) and double-credit for anything bad. Obvious fertilizer.

Don't you just love it when folks like Cenla come on here and stir up shite, rebut a few early posts, and then mysteriously are never heard from again?
Grow a spine (or a pair, or whatever), Cenla, and defend your outrageous post.
Man up, dude.

I grew up with LSU in the late 60's, 70's, and 80's when going 7-4 or 8-3 was considered a good year and if you beat bama and ole miss then it was a great year. His success while at LSU is amazing and he should be applauded for it.
But, the best thing about Miles is his concern for the players. He demands excellence from them but also has their best interest in mind. If this was not true would he let CJ play baseball, Trindon to run track, Hunter to run track when he gets here, Zach Lee to play baseball upon enrolling? Heck no. Those guys are on football scholarship. He and they lose valuable football time with them competing in other sports. But, he sees the importance of those other sports for these young men. If he never does any better than 10-2 or 9-3 while here at LSU, I for one will take his character and integrity over the arrogance and ego of Saban anytime.
Yeah, it's about winning. But, it's also about the young men and the lives that Miles and his assistants are helping mold that is a testament to him.

Cenla may be speaking about what fans on other teams think of Les Miles. I get the same arguement when i travel around the states. The common arguement is that LSU is very talented and with any decent coach LSU should be competing every year for a BCS bowl. Last year, LSU underachieved, and alot of fans expressed that Les Miles was the reason why we had a bad season. They say we recruit some of the best in the game, then why can we not dominate. Also in 2007, i was told that there was no reason to lose to Arkansas and Kentucky, we should have been undefeated and not even be close in games. With this much talent, think of what a coach like Houston Nutt could do with this talent. He led Ole Miss to a better season than LSU, and ole miss doesn't even recruit on a high level like we do.
I personally think that Les Miles is a great coach. He is the only coach with balls. I will take a risk with this type of coach anyday. Sure Les Miles is not the brightest, but he is bringing in championships one way or another. He brings in top recruiting classes. Lets just evaluate him after this year, because most of the players on the team, were recruited by him.
