Best move for him. Really didn't see him getting any action at safety after the year he had there this year. Francois is a marginal player at best at OLB so he could start there. Reid, Loston and Taylor will be the rotation at both safety spots more than likely. Vinson will get more work in this year likely as well.

Not surprising if this move happens. It would be 3 years in a row. With Taylor, Loston, Reid and packages with Brooks and Mathieu in place. This gives Hatcher the best chance for consistant PT. Question is will Francios, get a shot at Will and Baker to Mike. That could be all Sr's.

No. Or at least I highly doubt it. I think its Baker/Minter/Hatcher

I knew Chavis would move somebody from the secondary to one of the OLB positions.

I can see Francois playing Will. He didn't do all that bad at Sam. (36 tackles) and that could make us stronger in pass coverage on weakside. Just certain packages took him off field. I just see Hatcher, being able to play better in space and reading receivers rather then the ball (lol) so he could be a good fit for Sam.

He just didn't impact games. 3 tackles a game from a starting LB is not very good imo. He was part of the reason that we saw the nickel so much (the other obviously being Tyrann's play). By the end of the year we were playing nickel or dime 80+% of the time

This is similar to the Harry Coleman move that I think worked out pretty well If I'm remembering correctly.

He got beat out by lots of guys in our secondary but has the exp to contribute time to time in coverage.

his spot w/ the DBs is gone. LB is wide open, he could be a great fit.

He made a pretty good play against Carolina. LSU.net had him at 9 tackles against Moo State and 5 against ole miss. Not bad for not being on field all time, I can see your point. Plus, as you pointed out Tyrann has to be on field too. So all in all he didn't play that bad. Big plays doesn't have to justify playing well.

i think the move was best for Coleman too. He was much more of a hitter the Hatcher but he was so good in Run Support (like KH) it seems like a good move.

I liked the move with Coleman.
I love the move with Hatcher.

It's addressing a need and we really have nothing to lose.

Worse Case: can't make the translation and SF keeps the job. Secondary moves on without him.

Best Case: we gain a great SAM. Secondary moves on without him.

I wasn't a fan of Hatcher at S but I think he could easily be better than Francois. I like Taj Jones, too. Even at his size, he's very physical.

Why wouldn't you want an experienced SR to move to a position of leadership and play more a position more clearly suited for him where he can attack the ball?

Yeahhhh, no. He did pretty bad. He was a complete non-factor on the field basically.

Coleman played the same spot the year before in Chavis' defense and had A LOT more of an impact.
