Follow up Marceaux. If I’m Marceaux I go up to PM after the game and ask him to fight. Real shite.

Almost felt like we were throwing in the towel....sad.

I wish someone could explain why this keeps happening
Money
Coleman
Fontenot
Each is good for 1 inning before you have to start worrying

I think he assumed that we wouldn't hit Kopps. It doesn't matter who pitches for us if we score 0 runs.

That’s the answer....saving arms for tomorrow. If we’d been up 2-0 it would be different

Did they not do their homework?
Per Wilson Alexander
Arkansas turned to Kevin Kopps with two outs in the seventh. The best reliever in the league, he has a 0.97 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season.

He still can't walk out there and put in guys from the end of the bench. What kind of message is that sending to his team? At least pick from the middle of the bench or something.

Believe me, I agree. He told the team that he was conceding by bringing in Hasty and Fowler. We'll see how the rest of the weekend plays out by not using other guys tonight.

Here is what I don’t understand
They should know they aren’t great pitchers & we don’t need to rely on them in a fight game, we see it & we aren’t coaches
Is something different happening at practice?
Is Dunn telling PM to use Hasty because he did really good in a bullpen session?
Is PM just picking & Dunn not speaking up in the dugout?
There is nothing to justify how they are picking relievers
There is nothing that will justify not using Hilliard last weekend
There has to be a reason

Down 2-0 there is no reason to not throw our decent bullpen arms.
Kopps is good but that’s ridiculous to concede a 2-0 game in the 7th at home!

I can understand that line of thinking but we will never break through being scared and giving up every weekend.

J, at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he's just trying to stick it to the rant by trying to have these guys we don't like do well. I can't figure out the decisions this year.

Yeah they almost hit 2 balls past the pitcher in 2.1 innings. Definitely worth burning the only decent bullpen arms you have. It’s a defeatist approach but with a cupboard this bare it’s the only chance you have to win 1 game this series.

I 100% agree, just saying that’s what it looked like to me. How do you think the players react to that, they’ve got to be thinking the same thing.

No one outta the pen has been reliable. Try someone new.

Interesting, so do you think Kopps is “burned” for the series? He pitched last weekend in two of three games for the Pigs and earlier this year was in three weekend games.
If Kopps isn’t burned after pitching 2.1 innings, why would our better bullpen guys (Fontenot, Edwards, Hilliard, Money) be “burned for the weekend” pitching part or all of 2 innings.
No doubt if they struggle you have a short leash and rotate in another and if the game gets out of hand, you can always throw Hasty, Fowler etc. At least it gives us a chance.
Remember Nikhazy was unhittable the week before we saw him, we hit him fairly well.
Down 2-0 is way different than down 7-0 as to players mental state at bat and their approach.
This isn’t the first game this year Paul threw in the towel...Embarrassing that’s what LSU baseball has become.

That's the way PM manages the pitchers. Has done that way from day one at LSU. Why be surprised.

frick no he isn't burned for the series. What did he throw? Twenty something pitches?
Posted on 4/30/21 at 9:22 pm to tigger42day
Being that Kopps is a curve ball pitcher, we may see him in the other two games if Arkansas needs him.
Posted on 4/30/21 at 9:31 pm to tigger42day
Kopps isn't burned for the weekend by any stretch. I don't think we see him tomorrow. He pitched in game 1 and 3 last weekend against SC. He's only pitched in all 3 games once, against Auburn, after not pitching for 2 weeks.
