Feels like that scene in the movie Perfect Storm when they decide to turn around and get out. They see the sun for a moment and then it is gone. No way to get out.

disagree. There were SEVEN losing seasons in the 90s...SEVEN. 95,96,97 were the only winning seasons of the decade

I feel like 2008 was worse.

Well 2008 we at least had 3 top 5 finishes in the last 4 years and everyone could at least cling to the excuse of Ryan Perrilloux getting kicked off the team.

2014 was really bad too.

You could at least cling to the excuse that we started the 2nd most freshmen in the country in 2014 and we lost 4 very good offensive players.

This year there is nothing except Guice and Aranda.

chill out, sir. transitions are almost NEVER smooth and what happened after '99 ... things started getting better. hold your horses on the Dark Ages comparison till after next season.

Fat goebbels and Orgeron sold this hire to Alleva largely based on proposed CONTINUITY and lack of a rough transition.

You don't get to construct a "transition excuse" for O after the fact.

did you just compare nick saban's hire ... a guy who even before coming to LSU was being mentioned for NFL jobs and who had just gone 12-2 at Michigan State ....

did you just compare his hire to the hire of ed Orgeron a failed head coach and Moderately successful interim coach that couldn't have gotten a head coaching job and any other d1 school.

Yep, it's been terrible to endure. I fear LSU is going to become a bottom dweller moving forward.

You girls are something. You whine because Alleva didn't take the time and hire the right coach. Now you bitch because it's not happening yesterday.

Did you read that Times Picayune article about the current trajectory of recruiting? Yikes.

(Already posted on Recruiting Board, but here it is again for those who haven't seen it.)

LSU loses the coach that brought them back to national prominence on Christmas Day. They then go out and lose the Cap One Bowl on a complete breakdown on the last play of the game. The next day they replace the best coach in 50 years with a goofy bum from OSU whose only claim to fame is upsetting OU twice. To make matters worse, the recruiting class tanks and the new coach is only able to sign far fewer players than usual.

The sky was falling in 2004-2005. It turned out ok.

I don't love (or like) the O hire, but I'm willing to give him a shot rather than just accept the world is coming to an end

LSU has done nothing that other teams have not already done and survived in the past. LSU will not be the last. I have and always will be proud of LSU no matter our record. Nothing you listed fazes me in the least.
The Louisville game should be a good indicator of the direction of the team.
