The Advocate's Brooks Kubena - "Four LSU linebackers were named to the Dick Butkus Award watch list, given annually to the nation's top linebacker, the award committee announced Monday morning."

"The watch list contains 51 players, including LSU outside linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson and inside linebackers Michael Divinity, Jacob Phillips and Patrick Queen."

"LSU had the most names on the list, followed by Alabama, which had three players."

Yes, I'm one of those LSU fans who is fixated on beating Alabama. And I just found another key clue that will determine if LSU will rip dat #ss in Tuscaloosa.

I didn't need national recognition to think this team is going to be really good on defense, but dang if this doesn't get me even more excited!!

LSU will be very hard to beat if the DL, especially NT (interior DL) holds its ground. That frees up the LBers to do their thing.
Teams will not make a living going outside or throwing downfield againat us.
I knownits not that simple always, but if the interior DL is solid, we have a chance against every team.
That being said, if offense gives us 21 per, we go undefeated

That's extremely impressive.

I wouldn't have thought of Chaisson as a linebacker... he's going to make a big difference this year. We didn't have that level of pass rush last season.

I remember a team back in 03 that had every award winner from Heisman to groza on it. They lost.

LSU 21 - OU 14

Dave Aranda is the best coordinator in college football.

The fact he is one of the best position coaches sometimes gets lost in that. His Wisconsin defenses were great because of his linebackers. At LSU he has many elite DBs and LBs.

If healthy, no reason this defense can't be one of the best. Leadership, talent, experience at every level. This year more depth as well.

One thing that could derail the statistics is that we may score quicker/less ball control but that will be a good thing.

All our LBs are 230 plus

Damn it’s nice to have some beef up front again.

Aranda has developed the talent to win titles which is obvious. Many of us complained about the lack of pressure on QB’s last year. Will be interesting to see how much this area improves for LSU and how successful Aranda’s schemes will be at getting to the QB.

Without looking I'd say either kary Vincent or Jacoby Stevens.

I think most of us underrate KV15. We never heard his name called against UCF and he playing on the perimeter that game. He's impressive

Shall we nickname them the Valley Patrol?
