Except that's really not the point. The song is a fan favorite and more importantly a player favorite. Not to mention there's some badass footage of the stadium doing it in unison during big moments it big games. I'd much rather that than Hells Bells for the 15th time. But no, the students have to be idiots. No one's trying to take your free speech. You can't have that stuff get caught on camera. So they'd rather the song not be played than to follow a very simple rule.

When I was in college in late 80's, we caused them to change the song the band played after we scored because we added "assholes, assholes" to the end..it sucks and I wish we wouldn't have caused that..,

from what I've heard they can only play it once per game, and only during commercial breaks

As a student, I can say that I have truly come to hate "Neck", and I know I'm probably in the minority. It was awesome the first couple of years but stupid people ruined it. It's pretty embarrassing.

"ha ha ha assholes assholes" As you point to the visitors. This was chanted at the during Tiger Rag. It was replaced with Hey Fighting Tigers for the 2006 season. I graduated in May 2006, so I was never without it.

A lot more respectable than what Neck has become.
I don't understand why they cant play Tiger Rag but still play Neck. Most students who scream SUCK THAT TIGAH DICK BITCH just to fit in wouldn't even know the a-hole chant. So I don't think it would even be a big deal to play it

Here's what I want to know.
I'm not sure when LSU started playing "Neck", but I am old (46), and remember when the song came out. I graduated HS in 84, and IIRC, Cameo "mate dat recuhd", and it came out either in my late HS/early college years.
Anyway, when did y'all get the lyrics changed, but more importantly, HOW in the WORLD did you get everyone (students) to sing it like that?
I mean, LSU's been playing "Hey Baby" for a while, and the students adding the "ba Na na Na" is pretty predictable. "suck that Tiger dick" is a little more original, and alot less predictable.
How/when did y'all pull this off?

I sure as hell wasn't a part of it. It's so embarrassing for people watching the game on TV to hear that. I guess the "suck that..." chant started maybe 3 or 4 years ago, but I'm not exactly sure. It started as just "suck that tiger dick" which is bad enough then a "bitch" was added at the end of that to make it worse
And I have no idea how its has spread throughout the whole student section, it just happened

Thanks for clarification on whether the "bitch" part is appropriate or not, as I've heard it both ways.
At least now, I'll know how to do it right if they play it again.

This is how the current students are going to feel after they graduate and try to find a job in this economy.
They're going to get together with their family and friends and go to LSU games; and they're going to miss "Tiger Rag" and "Neck" because
Eugene Bourgeois from Morgan City and Chantelle
Melancon from New Roads and hundreds of other giggling low self-esteem and zero-awareness students want to yell 'a-hole' and 'dick' to each other.

Congratulations, students. You must feel very proud that the DECADES-OLD tradtion of "Tiger Rag" after a touchdown is GONE. Because of YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
The very cool visual of the entire student section waving their hands to "Neck" is GONE.

What a wonderful and truly inspiring treasure you all are, and what a proud example you set for Louisiana State.
Visiting fans to LSU and millions of people nationwide watching games on TV are so impressed.
I wish they would just ban students from the stadium.

Wasn't directed at you personally.
But I think it's truly sad that the best band in the country can't even play the traditional school songs that go back to the NINETEEN THIRTIES like Tiger Rag.
I remember growing up in the 70's and 80's and hearing the familiar chords of "Tiger Rag" when LSU scored. It was one of CFB's great traditions.
I do agree with you on "Neck". But I still loved the picture of the student section waving in unison. That was awesome.
And I myself sat in the Greek section of the student section in the late 80's - right in the NW corner.
Yes it was rowdy and obnoxious, but not enough to embarrass the entire university to visiting teams' fans in the stadium and a national TV audience.
