It’s different types of speed. Berry has more wiggle while maintaining his speed. Durham is more of a power speed runner

I absolutely cannot stand when you hear "so and so isn't playing because he's still learning pass protection." Cool, don't ask him to pass protect. There's three things a RB can do in this offense. He can carry the football, he can go out on a route, or he can pass block. If you aren't ready for him to pass block, don't ask him to. Let him get a few carries. Let him go out on a pass route. But to take him off the field for that is just poor coaching.

Sorry but it doesn't work like that. First off, opposing defenses would key on that tendency causing them to load the box everytime. Secondly, this would completely eliminate Nuss from audibling into a better play based off the defenses pre snap look. Example: changing from a run play to pass play to take advantage of a voided area if the defense pre snap look is blitzing a LB or safety. In a situation like that, not only would the play would change from run to pass but Berry would be expected & adjusted to blitz pick up. So what you proposed trying to sound smart is actually dumb & limits the offense.

It's hard to load the box against a 5-wide set; also, that's what screens are for. If teams see Berry and immediately blitz, then take advantage of them putting themselves out of position.

So you propose 5 WR, 5 O-Lineman, 1 QB & 1 RB? I'm not the best with math but I think proposal is illegal buddy.

Used the wrong term; meant empty set not 5-wide.

Right, it’s like the people on this board can’t comprehend what good coaching and smart QB’s can do lol you’re not keying off the defense at all. There’s literally endless examples of teams being able to scheme in players of certain skill sets. Like I said in my original post if you audible to a pass and Berry goes out on a pass route, there’s ways to shift the protection to make up for that. It’s like the stat from a few years back of Mark Andrews only pass blocking on 12 of Lamar Jackson’s 550+ pass attempts or whatever the stat was. It can absolutely be done.

I swear we've gone back in a Time Machine to the Les Miles years. All the same fan arguments are cropping up

Hidden playbook, bad QB play, securing the win, head coach interfering in the offense, boring wins. At least with Les we always ran the ball well.
