FWIW Saban's 2002 team was BY FAR the worst team he ever fielded at LSU. He followed that up with the best team he's ever fielded anywhere.

Not many could have seen that coming, which is why we started the season ranked middle of the pack.

Sometimes a team learns through adversity. We are facing that right now. It's how we respond that will define LSU and Miles in 2010.

So you think that's the only area we need to improve?

You guys hanging from Miles' jock will never understand how truly bad the OM game was. The coaching was inexcusable. Also he didn't take the blame. What he did was dance around the issue making excuses THEN he would say I take responsibility. There was no reason to take shots at players andcoaches like he did. Each question should have been answered "It's no one elses fault but my own....period."

That would have made him a man, gained respect back from the fans, and allowed him to continue on. Elaborating about how JJ should have done this, so and so did that was just childish and transparent. You guys have fun defending him. I used to but I'm done...

Piccalo player, you want me off the board, then let's meet and discuss it. Swap QBs in the three games LSU lost and Tigers win.
JJ can't read defenses, progressions,or understand situations. I'm hoping he improves with time. How bad was the offenses with Flynn,Russell, and Lee at QB?
Same HC and Oc yet few delay of game penalties and good offensive production.
Once again,we can meet and discuss if you wish.

All we needed to do was run twice and kick a field goal but Crowton tried to pass twice. This crap has bitten us on the butt all season. We would run all over La tech for 4 straight times then pass three and punt!!!! It's rediculous. We need ten yards for a first down and we do a pass to lafell at the line of scrimmage and he immediatly gets tackled because the play has him no blockers The culprit here that is influencing our win/loss is Crowton. Crow must Go!

Okay-- here's the one I was thinking of:

Do most of you really see no difference between 8-5 and 10-3

so just to clarify- you are hoping for a couple of losses?

If it improves our chances of getting a more competent coach, absolutely.

I'd take a couple steps back to end up forward.
Who wouldn't?
Again, I feel terrible for the players, but they'll be in a worse place if it never happens.

Insanity is doing the same thing over & again and expecting different results.

It's the main area. We need to meet and discuss this.Didn't you have team mates that had trouble grasping the playbook etc?

He's an idiot.

But I don't see many here spewing that garbage. Some just don't think Miles is the guy to sustain this program. Saturday didn't help his cause.

They were in various threads. I saw them yesterday before the lunch presser. I had to get off this site becasue I could not take all the negative any longer.

Coach Miles butchered the end of that game and I was just as mad as most around here but he is still the coach or my team and I will always support the team and not pull for them to lose.

All the people saying they can read his lips and that he is a liar are reaching for anything to attack the man. You can not read his lips from that video going around and the fact that Miles didn't run down the sidelines pointing to the ground until the OM player came up with the ball, makes his story believeable.

OM was stuffing the run. 49 yd fgs are not easy.

I don't have a copy of the PC nearby, but if at any point he even came close to suggesting that he'd like for his QB to not take a sack when asked to throw from the shotgun TWICE when already in field goal range, than I'd call that tossing a player needlessly under the bus.

This is the point where he specifically addresses this point:

The play was not open. The play was a contested ball that with a 6-foot-4 receiver on a perimeter corner where we had a real matchup and leverage on the throw could have been banged in there. It was the style of throw that we felt like could have been thrown no matter what and at worst, the throw away. I certainly understand that Jordan is not throwing the ball, not throwing it for the completion. With retrospect, we’d all like to have him throw the ball out of bounds. I did not give him specific instructions on that spot for that. To me, I think that’s a part of the strategy that I’m talking about. The calls that we make there come with a code that says we are in position to win this game, travel smartly and make great decisions. We did not give him that. He should have had that. We should have given him that absolutely. The one thing that Jordan Jefferson has done – certainly he’s been sacked – is he’s got great ball security. He throws a pick in that game, and it surprised him. It surprised his team, and he’s not prone to doing that, so I understand him pulling that ball down, and I understand him not throwing it. I understand the sack. The problem is he needs to throw it away. That’s what we’d like to have schooled. I didn’t have that schooled, and that’s something that we have got to get fixed.”

Don't get me wrong, this is an issue in itself and somethign I've said from day one. Jefferson needs a QB coach. Crowton is not one, clearly. They may need a new OC and seperate QB coach going forward. JJ has the talent, he just needs someone to teach him how to play the position in college. It's really that simple.

I get it now. You're just one of THOSE idiots. If you think the QB is our main problem you're the biggest moron on this board and looking at the last few days that's quite an accomplishment. To you sir...

this is false. the 2002 team ended badly, but when mauck went down late against UF, we were playing at an extremely high level. everyone felt like if mauck came back healthy we had a chance to do something special.

i specifically remember hanigrif's preseason column saying he thought we would go undefeated. correct me if i'm wrong, but we were a pretty solid consensus pick to win the west as well.

False. LSU was ranked 14 or 15, and Auburn was preseason top 5. LSU was NOT picked to win the West, Auburn was.

I agree that PERSONALLY I thought that the team had a chance to be much better in 03.

But the success we had was a major surprise given how the team looked in 02. Even the D had A LOT of work to do to improve.

The 02 D to the 03 D may be one of the biggest turnarounds in LSU history.

If you think there will be a turnaround with Miles then you are delusional. We have just gotten worse with top talent. Thing is, the players know it. Wait until you see how many recruits we lose because of this. We are a national laughingstock.

We have top talent at the skill positions NOT on the lines. We'll be much better equipped next year. Relax Paco.
