I'm glad someone else said this. Yes, they are yellow. I tried to explain the whole "gold" thing to a fan of another SEC team (can't recall which), but had no answer, other than it's LSU's school colors.
But I'll never bust out with "yellow and purple". "Purple and yellow" would have been just a tiny bit better

My brother, who is a UL-Lafayette graduate and fan, says that he hates people who didn't go to LSU who are fans. Of course, he thinks that people who didn't go to UL-Lafayette but live in Lafayette should be UL-Lafayette fans.
I tried to explain that LSU is sorta the big state school that people pull for. They might also pull for UL-Lafayette, or Tech, or Nicholls, or whomever, but LSU represents Louisiana on a national stage like no other and they are merely representing their pride in Louisiana.
Same goes with the Saints. You don't have to be in New Orleans to pull for the Saints.
