First of all for people concerned with scores, a lot of the scores were very inaccurate and DD even mentioned that after the meet. This meet went about what was expected. We have 7 true freshman, a lot of sophomore and juniors who were not training specific events last year due to injuries and just normal first meet jitters as expected. We saw some uncharacteristic mistakes but those mistakes came from people who have proven themselves for many years here. Also this is the first time they have landed and performed on a hard surface. That makes a major difference.

This year will be very much like the 2016 season. I do not expect us to open up the season and pound out a 197.800 opening night. LSU is replacing and adding a lot of new routines. People tend to not remember, when Mckenna, Cannamela, Priessman, and Finnegan, even our seniors were freshman, all of them took time to develop into these all american caliber routines. The reality for this season, many of these ladies will just need time and reps and I am not very concerned about what I saw as a lot was expected.

Vault:

Finnegan opened up with a nice vault, perfect form but a small step. She will unveil a 1 1/2 by the end of the first month!

Erin had a fantastic vault and earned a 9.90. She used to drill vaults for us in her first two years. Very reliable on this event.

Sarah Edwards had a fantastic opening vault,a 1 1/2 which is a new skill for her. It will only improve but she is someone that will haul in 9.90's and 9.95's by the end of the year

Ruby harrold just had a bad night, everything seemed off but we know she is excellent on vault. She proved it last year. I have seen her drill and stick her vault the entire past month, not worried

hambrick had uncharacteristic vaults, she was under rotated and tried to hard. Mentally she put way too much pressure.

Edney looked like an all american from last year, drilled her vault and scored a 9.90

Bars

Kirby had an excellent opening routine and stuck her dismount. Nice lines on this event. Considering she hasn't trained this event in a while, its extremely impressive. She will only improve.

Myia and Priessman both looked like all americans on this event, pretty perfect both scored 9.95's

I think the highlight on this event was what we saw from freshman durante. She will score 9.90's for LSU all season. Perfect handstands and flawless technique. She had a minor procedure a month back so they eased her back in.

Beam:

Myia and Erin are both the best 1 2 punch in the country. Flawless routines that scored in the 9.9's

Kirby had some issues because she was way too hyped up and not focused mentally. She has hit 9.9 and 9.95's in practice. She just needs reps and experience.

Desiderio had a very uncharacteristic fall on one skill but the rest was perfect. She will be a major contributor on this event, not worried. She has been held back in training due to injuries

The highlight of this event unquestionably was freshman Campbell . The routine she has is capable of winning a national title and of all american quality. Extremely smooth on this event and has to be one of the best freshman routines I have seen at LSU. She will be a major impact on beam. She had a miscue on the dismount but she just came back from an injury. She will be fine.

Floor:

This is the event where we all have our concerns. hambrick and Finnegan had excellent routines in the 9.9's

Edney had a small but scary misstep on her double arabian, which is what was the major deduction. She will be a force on this event.

Desiderio is ridiculously powerful. Double layout and double back were both stuck and landed well. Middle pass she had a slight hop but she will be a major contributor on this event. She is the next superstar on floor. Like I said earlier, she is coming back from injury so of course it wasn't perfect

Cannamela looked extremely nice on floor. Very powerful and will only improve.

Ruby harrold scares me sometimes on this event. Consistency is what scares me. She can be perfect one routine but a mess on the next routine.

This team is fine, yes we saw some uncharacteristic mistakes but some which was normal/expected.

More than half the team had been dealing with injuries so a lot of the routines are no where near what they are capable of. LSU will be fine. Each will improve as the season progresses. Expect to see Dean sometime soon, she didn't compete tn due to back spasms. LSU has 4 super freshman, a lot to be excited about. See yall in less than a month at the opener vs Arkansas.

Just a hint for yall, expect to see some brand new vaults, (10.0 sv) extremely soon. Bob has had a few projects There will also be some surprises on floor in the future, keep an eye out

I am excited. For once, LSU is not going to come out guns blazing and showing all they have the first month of the season. They can grow and build as the season progresses. I think that will work a lot better for them at the end of the year. Plus, they will be adding difficulty as opposed to coming out as the team with the most from week 1 while the other teams add in later. I think this will all work in LSU's favor if they can heal up and the other girls remain healthy. It seems LSU has more injuries than normal with this group.

We just need everyone to be healthy.

I think the freshman will be major major contributors by the middle of the season. Staff is workin extremely hard to prepare Desiderio who is the star of this freshman class. She had been out for a while, elite world killed her body.

She will be in the floor and beam lineups all season.

Keep an eye out on Campbell too, her beam routine was excellent. They will try to work her in on floor sometime on the future. They don't wan't to rush

Compared to other teams over the past decade, this definitely is the most beat up team we have had. Talent and capability is there, just need everyone to be healthy, then the sky is the limit.

It will be extremely beneficial once Finnegan competes her 1 1/2. We will have a lineup with a minimum of 5/6 10.0 vaults by the end of the year.

Ashlyn Kirby is very talented and capable, she just needs reps and experience. Considering she hasn't truly competed her routines in over 2 years, a lot of this was very normal and why we hold this event.

I'd like to see her add in a true fly series instead of the over and back

I think it really helps that LSU has 3 all arounders that can put up a 9.9 on all four events.

I expect Edney to take it to another level this year. Excited to see her expand her role.

There were a few recruits in attendance last night

Just want to add a couple notes:

Lexi cleaned up her form on her pak salto on bars (its the transition from high to low), now she can have a chance at earning a 10.0

Eliminating the opening release in Ruby's routine will definitely lead to a higher score for her. That release would always result in a .05 deduction. If she just hits her hand stands and make sure she doesn't have a major step on the dismount, she should be able to hit 9.9's

Cannamela is on the rise, she has kicked arse in training. She has a very clean look to on all events. I think she will surprise a lot of people on floor. Not many people know but she was one of the most dynamic floor workers as a level 10 coming into LSU

Campbell is the pure definition of artistic. People don't understand how clean and artistic presentations can lead to much higher scoring. Its been proven over the years that cleaner and more artistic gymnasts tend to receive a little bit higher scores. I have know Reagan for 6 years and she is special. Fans do not understand what we have out of her. She will be a mainstay on floor, beam and bars by the end of her sophomore year. Texas Dreams has excellent training.

Desiderio can compete a 1 1/2 but will likely only just compete beam and floor. I don't think competin at LSU will be overwhelming before, as she competed at much higher level before as an elite.

Bridget Dean is another freshman that I think will make a statement before everyone knows it. She has an excellent bars and beam set. Floor was actually her best event but she had an injury. Do not be surprised if we end up with 2 or maybe 3 freshman on floor.

Let me know if yall have any questions

I've been able to see a lot of the inter squads this fall

OU definitely looks to be much further a head at the moment compared to everyone else. OU is tryin to up the difficulty on vault because LSU will be putting out 5/6 10.0 vaults. They have scored high 197's. Nichols will continuously the competiton

If Florida doesn't finish in the top two, it should be labeled as a failure. They return everyone and add a few elite gymnasts. They look very good this fall. They are trying to up the difficulty on floor. Its been a hit or miss at times but the talent is there.

LSU has been scoring in the mid 197's all fall. I don't have any concerns we will be with anyone by the end of February. Like I said, we just need to move past the injuries and have a full month of health. Many of these ladies haven't trained and competed in months, if yesterday was our bad day then I will take it.

UCLA is a train wreck at the moment. Whoever deals with their conditioning needs to be out of a job. They still continue to lack difficulty in too many areas. Talent is there of course, but you know its all about the celebrity life over there. Its not about national titles it feels like. Whats funny is they continue to haul in elites and former Olympians and then the same results happen every year. There are zero excuses for UCLA not to challenge for a national title but it won't happen until they train and act like they want it. They likely will make it to super six but won't touch OU, Florida and LSU

Bama just had an inter squad. They return a lot of people on floor and bars. Should be improved this year but they lack overall talent compared to LSU, Florida and OU. The recruiting over there has been pretty down over the past few years.

Tigerbait, thank you so much for all the info that you provide us. There is nowhere else to really go to find out more about the team, so I really appreciate it.

There were some great highlights for sure last night. The few individual performances by the freshman really blew me away. I hope Campbell makes that beam lineup. She is breathtaking. Durante absolutely needs to make the bar lineup. Who will come out once she’s ready to compete her full routine? Ruby or Ashlyn? I thought Ashlyn looked clean minus a few short handstands and a little leg separation in that DLO. Priessman’s form looked so much better. I’m excited for bars this year!

Any hints at all about Bob teasing us about vaults in the works?

Also, can you say which recruits were here?

I truly think Ashlyn is a diamond in the rough. She has nice lines. If a 9.85 is what she put up with limited training time and little competition experience, imagine her with a full season under her belt. Not everyone is an Edney and will put up a 9.9 + opening night. Mckenna's first floor routine was in the 9.7's and had many of those in her freshman year.

Durante will fill that last bars spot. She has had some of the top bars scores all fall. She is a major upgrade over Zamardi. This years team will have the schools best bars lineup ever. All can hit in the 9.9's, we just need Ruby to zone in on her routine a little more but everyone else can put up major scores. Ruby is not leaving the bars lineup. She usually does one of the best jobs with handstands when she is mentally in check.

I have not seen every project but some include:

Finnegan- 1 1/2
Lexi- 1 1/2
Cannamela trained a 1 1/2 before so I am sure that is still on the table. Cannamela has an excellent block and has quick rotation, she can easily pull it off IMO

I heard Dean and Campbell worked on some new vaults but I literally haven't seen it yet. They competed a full coming out of level 10. Desderio can compete a 1 1/2 so keep an eye on her. They are trying to be careful as she had some ankle tenderness before.

I wasn't up close enough to see. Trinity wasn't there

They had a pass onto the floor I just saw them walking around.

I think we have our 5 vaulters, that last spot Erin was in will be rotated with

Durante is your last bars spot, but I am sure the staff will try to allow others the opportunity to perform and build depth

Desiderio and Campbell are MOST likely your two mainstay beamers by the end of the season.

Where it becomes tricky is on floor. That we will just have to experiment with until we find the correct combo but it'll all work itself out. The competition will only improve everyone. I can safely say Edney and Desderio will take 2 of those spots with Sarah and Myia. Last two are up in the air

Well, dang!

In all seriousness, I'm excited to see how the team grows and improves throughout the season. I'll just be on the edge of my seat during the first three floor routines every weekend. lol

Take if for what its worth but a few ladies who compete with Trinity have told me that its now only between LSU and UCLA now. Utah and Alabama and Florida were in the mix before.

It would be such a waste of talent if UCLA hauls her in

Trinity is suppose to come back in sometime in January
