The level you coach at doesn’t mean shite. Especially for an analyst position.

Why would Canada take half of what he was owed?
My understanding was that LSU's obligation would be at least partially offset by the salary from any job that Canada took subsequent to firing by LSU. Instead he got a lump sum wit no potential offset.

It's pretty obvious this was gonna be another buddy getting a promotion while the gravy train is rolling. Wonder who stopped it from happening?

LSU was on the hook for $3.4 MM. that amount would be reduced dollar for dollar by any salary he draws elsewhere. LSU had reason to try to reduce the payout amount, obviously. But Canada had no reason to accept a penny less.
Think about it, you're being fired but the company owes you $3.4MM. Do you say, oh ok, I'll take half of that? LSU had to give him something in exchange for the reduced payout. If you've heard what's been discussed everywhere but in this board, Canada's behavior at LSU was a career killer. He took 50 cents on the dollar in exchange for non-disclosure. In reality, his career is already in jeopardy. Coaching is a very small world and if the public has heard the stories, you can damn sure believe other coaches have. There's a very good reason a Broyles finalist can't even get an interview anywhere. Even his buddy at Rutgers passed on him earlier this week.

Well, ya know, I don’t normally like to toot my own horn, but... I’m pretty sure it was my post about being against the hire that shut it down.

So now we care about shitty underqualified hires

Well thank you!! Can you expedite the end of this clown show too?

Working on it, bruh. Joe’s out at the end of this school year(I actually did hear a few months ago that was happening, but rumors quieted down now), and the new AD will be here for football season, just in time to see O and his deckhands drown themselves.

Hey dumbasses...Hugh Freeze pumpers...Ed O hired Hugh Freeze from a high school....
here is what Hugh had to say about O
As for the Rebels, head coach Hugh Freeze was actually hired by Orgeron during his stint in Oxford and give a lot of the credit for his success to Coach O, “I have reached out to him several times (while he was at) at USC when he got the interim there and then here when he did. We spoke last week actually about some things that were going on and everyone comes up with their own opinions, but I am so indebted to coach Orgeron. I have great respect for him and everything that he has meant to my career. He gave me an opportunity just to come here and be in an off the field position, and to learn from him in recruiting and the things that I watched him do and how persistent, and how he did his things with great passion. I learned a lot from him and I am very indebted for the opportunity and the time I had and the opportunities he gave me. I really don’t know my career does what it does without the opportunity that he gave me. The opportunities that he has had at USC and then here, I think he has approached it differently. When I talked to him now he seems a bit different about his approach and I think it is working for him. It was no surprise that the kids are playing well under him right now, so I am very indebted to him.”

I did hear that about Alleva, but haven’t heard anything about it in a while, so I’m not sure how much legs it had. I was told that he wasn’t running much behind the scenes anymore, but this was during football season, so I’m not very optimistic about it anymore.

everyone who had worked with LeCompte in the past has said his knowledge of the game is unparalleled

Exactly. If he was so damn good, he wouldn’t be a HS coach without a job.

That makes sense only from the LSU side. Why would Canada take half of what he was owed? LSU was on the hook for the money, not Canada. Canada took it because LSU was offering something he wanted - silence.
I like how you think you're some super genius on this when there's a very real possibility that Canada would make more money over the next 2 years by taking that reduced guaranteed buyout instead of keeping the entire amount that would have to be offset by Lsu if necessary. Do some math and see if you can figure it out.

He was mentioned for the Illinois job.
ETA: I see they hired a guy from Arizona.

Illinois hired Rod Smith. Very few openings exist and no one is competing for Canada's services. The notion that he'll make more money taking a reduced settlement from LSU is a pipe dream.
