What do you mean "give him a chance"?
I mean GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Hold your criticism of the man until he at least has the opportunity to coach a few games with his team of coordinators.

Do you think I'm not hoping for the best?
No, I don't think you are hoping for the best. I think you have made up your mind about the hiring decision and have convinced yourself he is going to fail. And as a result you feel compelled to let everybody know that you don't think much of the head football coach at LSU. You 100% lack hope. If you had hope you wouldn't being dwelling on your displeasure with the hire.
quote:
Just want to make sure I don't ruffle any feathers to where people question my fanhood!
I doubt that. I think you rather enjoy being the cynical guy. I don't doubt that come game day, you want LSU to win just as much as me. But you are the type of fan that the remainder of the week is just miserable. I don't think you even realize how much the vibe around the program impacts the program's success. At least I hope you don't realize it because if you do, and if you nevertheless spend your time contributing to negative vibes, then you clearly value your own personal opinion and the need to vocalize it more than you do the LSU football program.
You will do what you want, but I am encouraging you to not spend the entire off season criticizing a decision made six months ago that you admit you don't have the power to undo.
I'm not 100% sold on this whole thing either. But I do agree that a model that has a CEO who delegates to outstanding coordinators could be exactly what we need. If it doesn't work, I'll join you with the pitch fork once it becomes clear. But until then, I'm backing our coach 100%.

Not criticizing the man. Seems like a decent enough guy. He's a great recruiter and D-line coach that I want on our staff. I'm criticizing LSU for hiring the man. Please separate the two.

I don't have a ton of faith in O long term. Sorry. Short term? Sure. He has two good to great coordinators and a ton of talent to work with. None of this means I don't want him to prove me completely and utterly wrong. I'm an LSU fan after all.

Holy shite.
Color me surprised (not) that this thread turned into a shite show.
Coach O bashing and the usual stupidity. LOL

I'm sure zero thoughts were given about the amount of colorful comments this will generate among sporstcasters next fb season

Two thoughts:
It amazes me that apparently nobody can figure out that O's comment was tongue-in-cheek. Jeez, can't he even try to be funny? The haters are so blindly livid that they'll criticize anything he says. If the man said the sun rises in the East, some jackass would argue that it's actually the West. (And for those who don't understand metaphor and will thus jump in and claim the sun doesn't rise at all, it's really just the Earth's rotation, spare us the lesson in astrophysics.)
Also, it's absolutely disgusting that threads are still being hijacked by idiots who jump at any excuse to slam Alleva and/or Orgeron. Give it a fricking rest already! If he fails, you can say you called it. If he succeeds, you will have made less of a fool of yourself.
This should have been a light-hearted thread everyone could have fun with, but the haters and jackasses turned it into a shite-show!

frick you Broski. maybe, JUST frickING MAYBE there are people that think Coach O is going to be a damn good football coach at LSU.
I am one of those and I am not fricking brainwashed. I have a right to an opinion and just because it isn't the same as your opinion doesn't mean i'm "brainwashed".
again, frick YOU.

You may not be brainwashed, but you're not being rational in respect of your belief. That's fine though. Have at it.

I can't believe this topic was even posted, only to have it turned around and now posters are discussing O's abilities as a coach.
how about just stick to the topic the op posted?
