What difference does this make? You're like a little child saying, "But he did it too."

Man, I watched the game. Mullen was outnumbering us at the point of attack in the fourth quarter. That is a textbook case of getting outcoached.

So if Aranda's unit is off, we lose. Why don't we all just say that?

Offense can bring whatever effort they want, but the defense must show up or we lose.

You know, two things can both be true. Our offense didn't play well against Florida, and neither did our defense.

The defense overall had a pretty good game. A great 2nd half. We held them to six (6) points in the 2nd half. With a halfway decent offensive performance we win that game. That's what people are trying to say. Bringing up the defense being something less than flawless in that game feels kind of silly when the offense did as poorly as it did.

aranda has yet to field a top 3 ranked D like pellini, chavis and saban/muschamp did here.

Boom! That's the point. Aranda is treated here like he's some kind of god. I like him. I'm glad he's our defensive coordinator. I just don't see the argument that Aranda is the only reason we're respectable. After all, Aranda is given better talent than than the offensive coaches - MUCH better talent.

His secondary is three 5 stars and Delpit, who should have been.

His linebackers are Chaisson (37th player overall), Phillips (61st player overall), and Divinity (64th player overall. Thornton was 205th for when we use a fourth.

His dline is Shelvin (54th), Logan (156th), and Lawrence (5 star at 23rd)

No we haven't. We have yet to have a single championship caliber defense under Aranda. We've had good; not great.

No! That's not what we're saying. We're arguing about an article written about our defense. Our offense has nothing to do with this discussion. I think our offense has been average, and our defense has been above average, for much of the last 10 years. On a scale of 1 to 10 I think our defense has been an 8 the last three years, and our offense has been a 5.

The point some of us are arguing is that Aranda is treated as though he's a 10, while his production has been about an 8. The fact that our offense has been worse is as relevant as that our punting has been worse. Last year our punt return game was terrible. It's a mystery to me why you guys who keep bringing up our offense don't harp on our punt return game, too.

Agree to disagree. Advanced statistical analyses, including S&P, would show we've had a top-10 caliber defense all 3 years under Aranda. TIFWIW.

It baffles me why people ascribe so much to Aranda

I agree, he has been solid. Great at times, and non-existent at times. maybe its because of injuries and maybe its because he was outcoached. But Its not the only reason LSU has been relevant the past few years. I think Burrow, Guice, offensive linemen, Cole Tracy, several groups and several other players would have alot to say about that.

O haters have latched on too this concept that Aranda runs this team and there is no one else. They arent that dumb, just want to sound dumb by saying that. Jeezus.

I don't think anyone has said that Aranda runs the team. However, the job he's done in coaching the defense has been instrumental in the team staying on track through some adversity the last 3 seasons. He's done an outstanding job.

Yikes...

The offense is brought up because if you have an 8 defense (your rating) and a 5 offense (your rating) getting to a 9 defense or even a 10 BEFORE there is evidence that the offense has even matched that 8 the defense was at, seems...well...

Even mentioning Aranda's D as an issue before we get the offense at least equal to what many seem to be calling underachieving based on his salary just seems like passing the buck.

Aranda did a lot with a little, Miles left LSU empty when LSU finally got rid of that Carpetbagger who never respected LSU. Aranda is insanely good at what he does. I am surprised LSU has held on to him, he is obviously a head coach candidate when he wants to jump
