Greg Sankey Must Go

I think Sankey must be fired. This is the final straw in my opinion. Let's look at some recent history.
Sankey was the leader when the NCAA allowed football teams to expand to 105 players. The SEC held each team to 85 for 2 years. This allowed other teams in other conferences to sign 20 additional scholarship players which gave them a competitive advantage. Twenty more players gives more quality on your roster, allows you to take more chances on player development and gives you more access to transfers.
Sankey was the leader when the new TV contracts were negotiated. He negotiated a deal with ESPN/ABC and let CBS walk. The CBS slot was the best one in college football. Now the BIG 10 has CBS, FOX, NBC and some ESPN games. Each member made an average of $7.5MM more per team than the SEC last year. Add that up over 10 years and it's $75MM per team. You can sign an awful lot of players with that much surplus.
Now this situation with LSU led by Sankey. He's not a good leader and continues to prove it. Hopefully, the SEC presidents see this and dump him before the SEC falls behind other conferences.

How about the Big 10 bullying the SEC into an extra condference game and the SEC not getting any additional TV revenue. And now Sankey is about to cave to the BIG 10's 24 team playoff proposal.

He also expanded to a 9 games sec schedule before the playoff expansion, hurting the sec.

quote:Of all the dumb things Sankey has done this might be the worst. He's an awful commissioner and a terrible person. Time to go.

Sankey didn't know what the 5 for 5 was
How does he have a job after this. This was the whole purpose of the hearing. Now he's butthurt over being embarrased about it and now wants LSU out.
quote:
From live testimony just now in the Pyburn v NCAA hearing:
Mr. Downton: Mr. Sankey, you’ve testified that the SEC follows all NCAA by-laws and incorporates them into your conference’s by-laws, which I appreciate, but did I just hear you say that as the SEC Commissioner, you don’t know what the current NCAA 5 for 5 bylaws that took effect 8/1/26 actually say?
Answer: I don’t. It’s the first time I’ve seen this new manual.
