No doubt this LSU squad is the premier of all. Accomplishments speak for themselves and that is the only standard, rest is simply opinion.

Texas only finished at #25 because the had some key injuries. When that Texas team was healthy, they were very good.

I used a game simulator yesterday to match up 2019 LSU with 2001 Miami, 2004 USC, 2019 Ohio State and 1997 Nebraska (as far back as the simulator goes, they were 13-0 and #1 in the coaches poll). 2019 LSU beat them all in simulated games on a neutral field.

Yeah it’s pretty clear that LSU and Miami and the two big dogs in this fight.
Everyone knows the talent that U squad had. But the advantage at QB for LSU is pretty lopsided, so I think it would have made for a hell of a game.
I also think that USC era could have been a damn good fight. I guess they didn’t have the volume of ranked wins, but they were unquestionably elite.
Seeing VY take them down makes me think JB would have found a way as well.
Again, would have been a blast to see.
