Great article and just proof that if you lose the educational part of the journey it’s gonna hurt those kids in the long run because it’s still hard to have a ten year pro career in any sport and you better have something to fall back on

I was at the 03 game against Arkansas. We got down early then Matt and the defense just started whooping arse all over the place.

Mauck is one of my favorites of all time.
I remember being at the game he came in as the back vs Florida down 50 or something crazy and seemed to give us a pulse. I liked him from that day forward.
Then of course he led LSU to its first championship in my lifetime.

Thx for sharing
I met Matt on the sidelines for an LSU vs Ole Miss game in 2010
When he found out we shared a profession, we spent a quarter discussing it. I actually have a patient who relocated and now sees him.

Mauck learned that before he got to LSU. He didn’t come play till he washed out of the MLB.
I bet his sports memorabilia room is nuts between the Minirs, LSu and the NFL

Lived in Denver for 3 years and went to him as a dentist even though he was out of network for me. We’d always talk about the latest with the program and he’d usually make it back to campus once a year back then.

Great article.
But...."The Tigers defeated heavily favored Oklahoma...in the 2004 Nokia Sugar Bowl...?"
Don't recall the Sooners being heavy favorites. Maybe it's my P&G memory glasses talking.

BIG MAN!!!!
How's it going?
When I lived in Denver, I met him just before he began his rookie campaign with the Broncos. He is a humble, down to earth guy next door. He and his wife Jill are friendly people who love LSU. He was a member (and probably still is) of the LSU Alumni Denver Chapter. I'm so happy he has been a successful dentist. You won't find a better person/husband/father/friend anywhere.
GEAUX MATT!

I met him in the KD house once when I was at LSU. My girlfriend at the time was in that sorority and he was in there studying with one of her sorority sisters on a random night. He was a very nice guy to shoot the shite with.

That first trip to ATL for the SEC Champ game was glorious.
