How does this situation make LSU look good? That is what that pep rally should have been about

a pep rally is not about making LSU look good nationally....its about firing up the fanbase

When we played Okla for NC, media called Okla team the best in history.

they had just gotten drubbed 35-7. that "best team ever" thing died that night vs. Kansas State.

Media felt USC should have played instead of LSU.

no, they felt USC should have played LSU. those were the top 2 ranked teams in the AP poll. OU was well behind us in votes.

The AP awarded USC the NC title.

they were #1 in the AP poll, they dominated their bowl game.

According to media in 2003, Saban and LSU were second fiddle.

Saban was their coach of the year. I think they liked him. as for the team's finish, see above.

Carrol and Stoops were certainly the media's "fair haired boys."

they'd turned around 2 of CFB's "name" programs. and had them in the top 10 consistently (Stoops moreso than Carroll at the time). Saban was doing the same at LSU, and was definitely getting respect at the time he left.

Miles won numerous coach of the year awards this year and I was told by the rant that those don't mean anything.

So I guess when Saban won coach of the year when he was here, that doesn't mean anything either

The agreement by the media that year was whoever won the NC game would be #1.The AP broke that agreement after USC and their "fair haired boy" didn't make it to the dance.

you really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? the coaches poll made that agreement (and even then, a couple coaches still voted SC #1). the AP had made no such agreement, and was free to award their NC to whomever they pleased.

The teams were selected on BCS ratings and LSU backed in on the last weekend and edged USC by.16 to make the NC game. The media had agreed the winner of the BCS would be Champ and no split championship.AP a$$holes broke the agreement.

In all fairness, he won those awards before the NC debacle unfolded. I would venture a guess that if those were awarded after, he would have had no chance.

Miles won SEC coach of the year as voted on by other SEC coaches...which is a pretty sweet honor.

And if we gonna be fair...its coach of the year...you know...14 games and not one.

I love Les Miles but he has more important things to worry about than bashing teenage kids. Like learning how to coach the quarterback position.

I think Miles failed at recruiting this year, in several ways.

But I have zero problem with his Bayou Bash comments.

Just playing to the crowd.

people need to grow a pair. There was absolutely nothing wrong with those comments and people condemning Miles are just looking for anything to condemn the man on. It's pathetic.

You have said this a lot but can you describe in what ways he "failed"?

Was it a flashy class? No. Did we fill a lot of needs with solid and under rated talent? Absolutely.

What do you think miles could have done better in the situations with Collins, Devall and Davis?

Collins has been all bama for a while. Most who follow recruiting knew this. Plus he had other circumstances pulling him. You wanted miles to tie him to a chair?

Devall fits into bama scheme better than lsu. You want lsu to change their defense for an incoming high schooler?

Davis lied to the coaches.

The recruiting this year didn't turn out great and flashy for us but it was not a fail. That is just hyperbole and irrational.
