If Nevis could even pick up Newton then yes we probably would.

Fairley is borderline dirty, every play includes a gouge, knee or punch once he gets the player on the ground. I'm sure I've seen the body slam called before

That saddest thing is perhaps the sack could have been avoided, had he seen RR standing there wide open

Pretty sure the play had been whistled dead before they hit him.

That should have been a personal foul.

And an Auburn player (I think Fairley, but maybe a linebacker) kneed Ridley in the groin after the tackle - not called, not mentioned by the commentators. Auburn clearly played a dirty game (not good hard football). The three particularly bad QB hits - the one where Lee got hurt was a tad late (I think Fairley), but the nature of the contact could have been called. The two on JJ - the one after the whistle was Fairley solo, where he did a lift and drove JJ head first into the ground, and the second gang tackle (Fairley in the lead), where he lifted up, and the three of them bodyslammed JJ to the ground as shown on the video above should certainly have been flagged. Jefferson had the ball in his hands both times, so it wasn't "roughing" per se, but the first one was after a whistle (and unsportsmanlike) and the second was demonstrably unnecessary roughness and/or unsportsmanlike.

I've come to expect it from Auburn and I now put them in the same league of hate as Ole Miss and Bama, though for different reasons. I'm fine with Mississippi State and Arkansas. If we can't win the west, I want one of those two to get it, now (and I still can't stand Petrino).

Yeah, I was actually ok with the hit. I thought it might somehow improve JJ's play.

I like the intensity Fairley plays with. He dominated our Oline. I had no problem with the way Fairley played. It's football not ballroom dancing. No need to put skirts on LSU players except maybe our offensive lineman on Saturday.

There is a difference between playing with intensity and playing downright dirty.

These hits were illegal and could have injured JJ. They already had him wrapped up so there was no need to pick him up and slam him to the ground. The other play, he was hit when the play was blown dead so it was unnecessary. The JL hit was way after he threw the ball and the tackle could have been avoided.

Jack Lambert wouldve bodyslammed the guy doing that to his quarterback. Hint hint

That's what I'm saying, too. A hard tackle is one thing. I didn't care for Mingo punching a couple of opposing QBs in the face earlier this year, but Fairley's (and co) conduct against us should be scrutinized. He had a great game, and I don't want to take anything away from his effort and ability to make plays (he gets those two sacks and the knockdown, regardless of the uncalled foul), but if we don't hold people to standards of conduct (and consistent ones, I might add), it's no longer a game - like the original Rollerball film.

This. Why didn't someone step up in Fairley's face. At least it would've raised our intensity some.

It was a really bad call. We got some calls go our way, too. And it didn't make a difference in the end.

should have been a penalty. if spearing into a player going to the ground is one that should be.

By rule(which is subjective) as a former official I can tell you that most referee's I've worked with would have flagged the belly-to-belly throw down. Found it strange watching the replay that Ritter did not call it as he appeared to be staring right in at the play. In live action at the stadium even a couple of the 'Barners sitting close by looked for a flag on that one.
