I like the fact that we went to more 4 down linemen. It seems to fit our personnel a lot better than the 3-4 scheme, to be honest. I think Dave just wanted to play his base defense early in the year and finally decided it just wasn't going to work with the personnel he had. I was a huge critic of him during that stretch but he seems to have finally found a scheme for this particular group of guys and the results are obvious.
The fact is, the defensive struggles early in the year ended up not costing the team a loss and that's all that really matters because this team is hitting on all cylinders at the perfect time. I'm just glad Dave was finally able to find a scheme for these guys that completely turned it around. As much criticism as he took early, I'm willing to say this is the best coaching I've seen him do since he was able to take something that seemed unfixable early and turned it into what we see now.

Not to disrespect the author but he’s lost. I don’t think we played 4 down linemen 1 time against OU if my memory serves me. We are an odd front team. Even if Chaisson puts his hand on the ground Shelvin is generally in a 0 tech so it’s an odd front look.

Agreed. I was tempted to go back and watch the past few games to see bc I can’t remember seeing 4 either. But maybe i was too busy cheering lol
