and didn't fall off the face of the earth at the end of the season like Helenihi did.

Here are some SEC stats that I found that may give a different perspective on things.

(from secsports.com)
stats include SEC tournament
SEC games AVG OB% RBI GP-GS
Nola .174 .271 6 17-14
Ochinko .277 .363 13 28-27
Helenihi .381 .435 6 12-4
Hanover .311 .366 22 31-31

I was with those who said Helenihi should be benched eariler on but he is hitting much better the last few games he's played in. Nola is a good defensive player but LeMahieu isn't that far off. You can't play someone who's hitting that low no matter how good he may be on defense.

Helenihi's numbers are probably skewed, it's over the course of like 12 at-bats, i'm not against Helenihi getting in the lineup against lefties, i've never said I was against that, just against those who say the team is doomed without Nola, that's just rantarded, and nola's only had about 40 at bats

Yea, Helenihi only has 12 at bats when you include today. Nola has 46. I agree with you that we are in no way doomed with Nola playing ss. He battles at the plate and will get a timely hit like he did a msu. He's just too inconsistent imho. I guess I would just like to see Landry and Helenihi get some more ABs since they have come on strong as of late.

I think you're wasting your time arguing with people who don't understand the role of the 9 hole hitter. They're not there to produce RBIs and hits, but to provide productive at bats, get on base, and get runners over. To that person who said that walks don't get you RBIs but hits do, then explain a walk with the bases loaded. Also, walks provide baserunners, which is how you get RBIs.

Yea but at .174/.271 (SEC play). Even for a 9 hole hitter you need better production. I know Nola wasn't the only one going 0fer yesterday but we lost to Vandy because we couldn't score. I know he's just a freshman and I have no doubt about him improving but right now I think we need another hitter in the lineup and I just don't see it right now with Nola.

Regardless of what Nola has been doing at the plate since he was inserted into the line up the team has been playing better. The infield seems much more settled. I am not saying we are screwed without Nola in the line up but he is by no means an anchor that is bringing the team down as others on here would seem to believe.

Why does everyone love Nola so much? The guy is the future, no doubt about it. I just don't understand why most of you think that he is the one player in the starting 9 that shouldn't sit. While I would put Ochinko on the shelf before Austin, he would be next in line. I will add that against lefties i'd take out Mitchell in favor of Helenihi or Landry. JM looks lost out there against lefties.

While it's nice to get offensive production out of your SS and catcher it's not nearly as important as what they do on defense.

I'm not a Nola fan either

I guess ya gotta trust Mainieri in the end, but I liked our lineup better with him out of it
