Ehh that was the biggest meh season ever. LSU beat Troy, Vandy, and Ole Miss in three wet, sloppy, or boring games near the end of the season.
2013 is way better than 2004. Hopefully this team can actually recover and play like they're capable of.

I love how a certain contingent here unfairly disparages 2004. We finished 6-2 in the SEC that season. If 2004 was an abject failure, then a majority of Miles' seasons have been as well, since he has only had less than two SEC regular season losses twice in eight years. For example, last year would have to be classified as an abject failure, since we went 6-2 in the SEC and lost a bowl game to an inferior opponent in heartbreaking fashion, very much like 2004.
The only difference between 2004 and several of the seasons since is that now the schedule is twelve games, so we can claim "ten win" seasons by crushing an additional cupcake.

They played boring crap football. Sorry if they aren't held in the highest regard.

The case of last Saturday is actually easier to correct if you believe in the talent.
Agreed. I'm over the loss to Georgia. It was a difficult game. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and some damn good football.

Hester had a 20 yard run that ended in the only fumble in his career. Pretty sure he didn't rush again that season.

Webster was injured that day and we had lost Spears and Hill at DE to entry NFL entry.
UGa had pointed to that game the entire off season. I think they got toasted the following week.
It's not comparable at all.

Don't recall Webster being hurt. He started the game. Hill left early but Marcus Spears played all of '04.
As far the context of the game, you are correct that UGA had revenge on their mind after the blowout from the year before in the SECCG. And it should be mentioned that we had lost a heartbreaker to Auburn the week before (big rival game then) and had to go on the road again (for the record, we played Auburn, GA, and UF on the road on consecutive weeks - not much has changed in scheduling has it?).
But keep in mind that '13 was a huge game as well for GA (see how they celebrated afterwards).
As far as the our D vs their O it is very comparable. And what can be taken away is that the '04 D proved to be very good; the blowout to UGA was an anomaly. That the fact that our D got torched last week need not mean our D will stink all year.
